Haven't really read the article, because it's pretty much a summation of the email content without specifics. The main point of interest was the searchable part at the bottom, regarding the NHL emails released to the public, which include:

Gary Bettman telling Darren Dreger that "rivalry is good for the sport" when a Flyers' management person was caught saying Jason Blake "had it coming" when sucker punched by Steve Downie: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents ... 25053.html

Colin Campbell "explaining" the NHL discipline system to Bob McKenzie, complete with calling Doug Wilson a whiner after Corey Perry had elbowed Johnathan Cheechoo in the head. Just a little taste. I would say this doesn't bode well for the NHL, but Bettman is like a cockroach. You can't kill him, no matter how hard you try.

To no one's surprise, Colin Campbell comes off as a complete imbecile incapable of stringing together a coherent thought. McKenzie and Dreger don't look great either. I haven't seen much that paints Bettman in a bad light yet, though.

I glanced at some of this stuff, I came away surprised about how relatively innocuous it was actually...

Bettman isn't on the chopping block, so that's why he won't "go away" - no one that matters is unhappy with his performance as commissioner. And for fans that are unhappy with him, it's misplaced...

If anything, it shows Shanahan as someone who pushed for change. And lost. I can see why he left and joined the Maple Leafs front office.

Bettman, like Gooddell has brought record profits to the NHL. I'd imagine he's pretty far away from the chopping block.
