Personally, I hope it goes through, and I can see no reason why it shouldn't. I'm sure there are a few goaltenders who would hate this (I'm looking at you two, Lundqvist and Miller), but there are others that would probably love it, our own included.

100% agree. the era of Garth Snow equipment needs to end. I'm all for protecting the goalies but they need to be required to wear the proper size equipment. Ryan Miller is a perfect example. have you ever seem him in street clothes? he's a medium at best yet I'm willing to bet all his equipment is an XL.

I've seen this movie before. But hopefully they attack the right stuff...chest protectors being the worst offenders, but also pants, the "Osgood jersey", those cheaters on blockers and gloves...

Not to lessen player equipment and roster sizes...

I think they have to look at every aspect, @mikey. Pad sizes alone have gotten excessively large over the past 20 years.

Yeah, they'd be right to look at everything...but I doubt they can bite off too much...

Not just an NHL thing, remember, the NHL is the gold standard and the richest league...the reverberations go down all the way to youth levels...need to make sure that everyone is eventually playing the same game...

God forbid, Canada might have to start developing goalies better so they don't have to send donkeys like Malcolm Subban to a best-on-best U20 international tournament...

Right, they made some very minor reductions a few years ago I thought... hopefully these are a bit more substantial.

I believe they just shortened the overall height of the pads in 2013. I'd have to Google it to see if anything else was changed, though I don't believe so.

They made like a 10% reduction in size in 2006 I think...

I expect Lundqvist to knock over a lot of nets next season.
