my Rangers blogger friend (not Larry Brooks) has a daughter who started Mite hockey last night. she promptly got into her first fight.
apparently a little boy kept bumping her on purpose, dropping the F bomb (6 years old!) and "being mean". she face washed him and slashed his shin pads because, "He was being very mean....and I'm going to stand up for myself against mean people." :fist:

@meow I think I know you're a not-black-pads like me. What did you do for puck marks on your pads? Did you wash them out? Were you just excited that pucks hit you and wanted it as a trophy?

Every piece of gear I’ve ever worn has the very first puck mark that was made on it. Washing puck marks off? Grow up

whatever leagues you guys play in, do you have games on Halloween? our league does and the complaints are non-stop.

note: we have almost 80 teams in 12 sub-divisions and we have a 20 games-plus-playoffs season to get finished in 6ish months with only 5 total sheets of ice at our disposal.

My 10U team has practice on Halloween from 5:10-6:10. Lots of complaints from parents to the team manager. At the worst, you’re home by 7:15. It’s barely dark here by then. Shut up and show up

I don't think we do, but our first game was 9-13 and our last regular season game is 12-23... almost a month between game 1 and 2, and then 3 games in 2 weeks (with 2 games 3 days apart). Next is 11/5 and then not again until 11/30.

We only have 8 games this season.

I've had Halloween games before...schedules are tough, rink time time is tough...shut up and show up. It's not that big of a time window and I've never had a men's league game during prime ToT time that I can recall...

On the flip side, when I made college schedules, I'd move mountains to give my boys the Saturday before Halloween off...

10U practice right in the middle of trick or treating is pretty crappy

I’m not denying it’s pretty crappy, but ice time is ice time.

Sounds like someone that gets mad when they get splashed in the public pool.

That's what shin guards are for, eh? I made it a point to eat as many shots as possible in men's league if my goalies were garbage cans...

But in a slightly more serious note, you're playing with randos who likely don't have their head up and/or have no idea how to aim their shot/change their angle... what exactly did you expect?

Ripping shots into peoples feet is lame. Keep your shots down and don't try and fire it through a guy when you don't have an obvious shooting lane

that dude in particular is pretty good so he knew exactly what he was doing. A lesser player wouldn't be able to fire it that hard

this is also a guy that cherry picks in pickup so I'm not really sure if he's the brightest bulb

That's ideal, sure...but if you're at a really low level, most guys don't have that kind of control...

I went to the Seattle Thunderbirds teddybear toss game last night.

1. They need to start enforcing the rules about getting up during gameplay, that place was a circus. There wasn't even a jumbotron bulletin or anything, and it's sorely needed.

2. I've been hearing good things about twisted tea. I finally got my hands on a 24oz last night, and it was way too tasty. I can never be in the room alone with those or I won't survive.

3. Portland sucks

For your enjoyment:

Our game was immediately after Pens Elite practice. I caught a rut perfectly while trying to line up for the draw.
