The Minnesota Wild have avoided arbitration with forward Mikael Granlund, signing him to a three-year, $17.25 million contract on Tuesday.

Assuming Rask and Lindholm don't pan out at 1C, they just drafted Martin Necas 12th overall and they might have the best U24 D in hockey as trade bait...

The New York Islanders have avoided arbitration with defenceman Calvin de Haan, reaching a one-year deal with the defenceman. According to multiple reports, the Islanders signed de Haan to a one-year, $3.3 million contract before entering their hearing on Wednesday.

So of the 30 RFAs who filed for arbitration, only Nate Schmidt remains unsigned. Because nobody expects the George McPhee.

On European soccer style relegation? If it gets rid of the Devils I am all for it. Replace them with the Wheeling Nailers so I have an excuse to bet on greyhounds like a degenerate.
