Plus, the crosscheck to the face doesn't happen if Zadorov doesn't bulldoze McDavid from behind. Soucy's aim was at the chest area and McD gets knocked down to face level instead.

This is where the department of player safety gets it wrong (aside from they're always wrong, I guess).

I assume Soucy will get a game due to the end result of his hit even though his intent wasn't to hit him in the face. Meanwhile, Trouba tries a flying superman elbow aimed at Necas head and gets nothing because he missed.
