I like how Shero badmouthed not tendering offersheets... then doesn't tender a single offersheet. Internet muscles!

Should be a no-brainer for the Canes.

So maybe I'm wrong, but tendering the offer sheet doesn't mean Aho agreed to it, right?
Canes don't need to match anything until Aho signs, no?

$21.8MM in signing bonus and salary in the first year of the Aho offer sheet. Montreal trying to structure the deal in a manner that the Canes either can't or won't pay.
Canes would get a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in return.

That's not how I understand the verbiage nor the wording of the rule. I thought anyone could offer an offer sheet, but it only matters if the player signs.

Matt Duchene has officially signed a seven-year, $56 million deal with the Predators.

Dickie might be right. I was reading something other than the official NHL definition so that's where the confusion was lying.

If it's getting announced and the Canes are being given a week to match, then Aho has signed. An offer sheet means the player has signed. So maybe I'm wrong, but tendering the offer sheet doesn't mean Aho agreed to it, right?
