at the time the contract was given I don't understand why anyone thought David Clarkson was worth that kind of money.
Is Erik Karlsson worth $11.5M?
Is Kevin Hayes worth $7.14M?

not sure your point but no, they're not. pre-injury EK65 MIGHT have been worth that kind of money but now? not IMHO.
