I'm beginning to think they lied about the severity of Kane's injury, he's like 4-6 weeks ahead of schedule. Dude is a pile of bones, no way he healed that fast.

Ain't nothing incidental about that goalie interference. Should have gotten 2 for that.

Check that...medicine ball
In his defense, a heavy medicine ball would be tough to stop

A brouhaha, a donnybrook at the end of Vancouver and Calgary...some double majors, maybe even double misconducts in there...I think they'll wipe anything that carries over to game 3, but a lot of PIMs forthcoming for Hamhuis, Engelland, Dorsett among others...Brandon Bollig tries to come on the ice for the next faceoff, his skates touch the ice and Dan O'Halloran gives him a ten immediately, smart move...it's on on the coast..,

Your move, Joel. Choose wisely.

Jake Allen pitching a gem so far as the Blues have woken up from a sleepy game 1. If they can match the play and intensity that they showed against LA these last few years, they will pull away in the series...

Jimmy Howard steps in here for the 3rd. I'd still go back to Mrazek for game 3...

I have 2 draft kings games going. One team 30 points and the other has 15, but has more positions left to go. The first team tentatively has fleury and the second has lundqvist. Switch those around, yes? Or just bet on lundqvist in both?

My gut was give the team with more points lundqvist. I switched stepan out for brassard to make the salary cap work.

Man, how times have changed...proliferation of goaltending talent or just stronger/adaptable defensive systems...?

Carey Price vs. Andrew Hammond*
Ben Bishop* vs. Petr Mrazek*
Henrik Lundqvist vs. Marc-Andre Fleury
Braden Holtby vs. Jaroslav Halak
-
Jake Allen* vs. Devan Dubnyk*
Pekka Rinne vs. Scott Darling*/Corey Crawford
Frederik Andersen vs. Ondrej Pavelec*
Eddie Lack* vs. Jonas Hiller

A lot of bleh goalie matchups. Of the top-10 goalies in the league overall, not just this season, but overall, tough to say how many you really have there...the asterisked have no playoff experience prior to this...

Going back to 2003, randomly...

Patrick Lalime vs. Garth Snow
Steve Shields/Jeff Hackett vs. Martin Brodeur
Olaf Kolzig vs. Nikolai Khabibulin
Roman Cechmanek vs. Ed Belfour
-
Marty Turco vs. Tommy Salo
Curtis Joseph vs. Jean-Sebastien Giguere
Patrick Roy vs. Dwayne Roloson
Chris Osgood vs. Dan Cloutier

Or 1994...

Patrick Roy vs. Jon Casey
Curtis Joseph vs. Darcy Wakaluk
Dominik Hasek vs. Martin Brodeur
Mike Richter vs. Ron Hextall
Tom Barrasso vs. Don Beaupre
Kirk McLean vs. Mike Vernon
Bob Essensa vs. Arturs Irbe
Ed Belfour vs. Felix Potvin

I don't know, just a random thought I suppose...but we had teams with Jonathan Quick, Tuukka Rask, Cory Schneider, Roberto Luongo, maybe even Sergei Bobrovsky and Semyon Varlamov not in the playoffs...

I think it's better defensive systems between bigger, stronger defensemen and forwards who are more cognizant of their responsibility in their defensive zone than they were in the firewagon, offensive days. Add to that bigger bodies in net and bigger goalie equipment and I think it's a recipe for the lower scores we've seen.
