Does Stage 4 mean I go full dodint, or do I still have a couple more to go?
I don't think I'm cynical about enough topics yet to get there.

Transitioning to Phase 4 requires a height check like an amusement park ride.

Might have to chop my legs below the knees so I can fit under it, I guess

Gotta love ESPN having Dave Jackson as a rules analyst -- nope, that's not goalie interference...oh wait, there's a touch of contact there so yes, it is goaltender interference. Official call -- no interference. Thanks for that analysis.
Easy call on that replay. The minimal contact with Heinen was long before McAvoy ever had the puck and Bob's stick was knocked out by his own player.

Getting absurd. The league is *almost* making me pull for Boston.

I truly wonder what these hockey refs see sometimes when they make calls or blow their whistles.

Ref is coming down the wall on the weak side of the play. A good goalie generally won't give up a rebound on a shot into the middle of the chest and the body language is such that you expect the puck to be caught. The direction that it bounces out of Bobrovsky's grasp would be right "behind" the two players tied up to Bob's right and that should be right in the line of sight between the ref and the puck...

So do you think the ref blew it dead because he thought Bob caught it or because he thought Bob got hurt?mikey wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:19 pm Ref is coming down the wall on the weak side of the play. Based on that short clip, I think he think Bob caught it. I'll try to check it out tomorrow when it hits the ESPN+ app here in the 21st century to see if I see anything different...Orlando Penguin wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:46 pmSo do you think the ref blew it dead because he thought Bob caught it or because he thought Bob got hurt?mikey wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:19 pm Ref is coming down the wall on the weak side of the play. errrrrrr McAvoy had five shots that weren't goals, so do we have a sense of when this happened in the game...?

Pretty sure it was the shot with 9:40 to go in the first period. If not that one, it's with 6:18 left in the first.mikey wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:00 pmBased on that short clip, I think he think Bob caught it. I'm not sure I've seen too many other times where a team scored 6 on 5 to tie the game late and still lose in regulation.

After all the work Silovs did to keep Vancouver in this one...it's too bad that float-y nothing shot gets through...
Oilers actually sacked up though, give them credit. It was pretty one-sided in terms of quality chances...
Vancouver regressed to their form in Nashville series with that one, pretty sleepy from basically everyone...and what the hell happened to Filip Hronek? He was a monster the first half of the season, now he's playing like.......Tyler Myers...yuck...

Ok, I went back and watched this (it's the former of the two shots). And it's really clear to me that I have no idea why the whistle is blown there. I'm pretty certain my original thought from the reverse angle is wrong. If I lose sight of a puck and it's so free and open like that, my first chat isn't with the goalie...the goalie doesn't need anything from me there.Orlando Penguin wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:21 pmPretty sure it was the shot with 9:40 to go in the first period. So, I'm guessing that he thought Bobrovsky was hurt and out of position and just decided to stop everything instead of potentially dealing with a **** storm where Bob actually is hurt and lying in the mid-slot and the puck ends up going in...I don't like that, I didn't see any indication that the goalie might be in trouble there, Florida isn't about to get the puck cleanly...
But yeah, I'm pretty confident that I don't know what the thinking was there...it wasn't likely very good though, based on the circumstances. And I don't even mean that Boston has a shot next. Like, I'm looking at it from the eval+blowing the whistle process...I don't know what's going on in his eyes...

my best guess is that the ref thought Bob was hit in the neck and that's why he fell forward the way he did. would've sucked for Boston if they'd had someone in position to put the rebound in but I feel, better safe than sorry.

It seems like Boston has been on the wrong end of a few questionable calls this series.
