There was definitely some back slapping with regards to the conference bowl records. But that was pre-Rose bowl, Pitt lost to Northwestern, we have no ground to stand on.
And if Pitt fans are making you go all Rob Biertempfl during or after that game, that's on you.

You can weigh bowl records however you want, but the B10's bowl record is ass and the ACC has done the best, Pitt loss notwithstanding.

Takeaway: It was an entertaining game, what one would expect a traditional bowl game to be. Come back from 13 down to 15 up, but blow that lead. A lot of luck and bounces both ways, and replays over and over and over. Turned out to be one of those games where they needed one more first down they didn't get...
Additional takeaway: Not sure what ACC officials standard is for catches, possession, and replays that wipe out a penalty. (To be fair, they called that one both ways later in the game). That fumble "recovery" - the replay official had to have had a better or different angle not shown on TV. At first I thought the PSU lineman had recovered but once ruled the other way on the field thought there was no way to overturn it. For how fast USC came down the field after the successive punt, probably made little to no difference in the game.
Not that the two yards would have mattered given the distance of the eventual winning kick, but the TV crew showed that INT returner stepping out at the 35, ball was spotted at the 33, they reviewed it as part of the challenge, but then refused to respot the ball. 46 yarder vs 48 yarder might not have mattered, but their guy had missed from 49. Curious as to the explanation there. (The real killer play was the 1st down run - PSU knew they were running and they got 4-6 yards anyway. That made more of a difference than the spot but combined they made it an easier kick.
Neither team played a great 60 minute game. USC made just a few more plays in the end.

After sleeping on it, my opinion of what went down hasn't changed. A number of opinions stressed the 'playing to lose' theme that they thought PSU went into on the last 2 offensive possessions. I didn't feel that way at all while watching it and I still don't. If anything, with the way the defense was going, they knew they had to keep that SC offense off the field. The only thing about the 3rd and 4 play that I'd love to know is what was going thru Trace's mind as he handed it off to Barkley...because I think if he had kept the ball, he could have moonwalked to the first down to ice the game. But I'm not too upset by the offensive side of the ball. If you score 49 points, you should win the game. Defensively, I'm still disappointed that they sat back in a 7 or 8 man coverage on the last 2 SC drives and still couldn't stop them. Of course, a lot of that is lack of pass rush allowing Darnold to pick his spots.
Fun Fact -- Prior to this year, the most points that PSU had scored in a regulation game and lost was 34 in 1983 (Iowa). This year, they lost 2 games in which they scored MORE than that. Yikes.
*Scored 35 in an OT loss to Iowa in 2002.

"allowing darnold"
I'm hearing from a lot of people who usually don't overreact, are pretty level headed and objective, that Sam Darnold is probably going to be a borderline generational quarterback talent
and after watching and reading about him for about 20 minutes... I'm seeing a lot of corroborating evidence

The worst part about the loss is it'll take my future enjoyment of this highlight from a 10/10 to a 9.7/10.

Sickels declares for the draft. He was a really good player, hopefully he'll do well at the next level. We're losing both defensive ends but have a boatload of talent behind them so we should be fine.
Allen and Godwin are the only two left to decide.

I know we won't really know much until the combine, but I'm curious as to where Sickels will go. I don't think he's a top 3 round pick, but then again, I don't know the DE draft class.

If Nassib didn't even go in the first round...

Yeah, Sickels leaving is a bit of a surprise. He had a solid year, and pretty much won us the OSU game, but I didn't view him as NFL ready to the point of forcing his way into a >3rd/4th round pick. He's a guy that I thought would potentially raise his stock quite a bit by coming back...I know we won't really know much until the combine, but I'm curious as to where Sickels will go. +1 and sub OSU with Pitt and Facebook with this board. Glad we could get tOSU their bowl win as wellThe high-fiving and back-slapping from certain Pitt fans on this board after the Rose Bowl is pretty entertaining. I don't recall any of us caring or gloating about Pitt's embarrassing loss to Northwestern in a meaningless bowl game, but it seems like a lot of Pitt folks are treating the Rose Bowl as their "signature win'. Fascinating.
In any event, I can't wait for next year to get here already. I want to see what this team looks like with another year under their belts.

I'd be shocked if Sickels even goes before round 5. He was solid but he had 6 sacks this year, half of which came in 2 quarters against Ohio State.

If it was a thing, I'd be able to see it. Kicksave and I have the same permissions as far as visibility. There was a rumor over at the old place that there was a secret forum for only certain users though... it is possible to create.
