I'm also still getting used to going "out of the saddle". I still can't do it for very long. Sometimes I will just crank up the resistance in the saddle instead of getting out of it, or try to up my cadence during those stretches. I figure the comfort with that will come in time.
Late to the game here but IMO it takes about 60 or rides until a normal human can get out of the saddle and stay on the beat at a faster pace for an extended period of time. Once you get the hang of it, it isn't as physically demanding as you think.

I hit a new PR on the 30 minute Cody Rigsby Britney Spears ride haha. He's probably a bit much for some, but sometimes I just need someone who is way over the top and totally into the music that is going on. The 30 minutes flew by....fun ride for something different.

Interesting. The main complaint I hear about Cody is that he doesn't bother paying much attention to anything as his rides are his own personal storytime. My wife does a lot of his rides, not my thing.

He's definitely either a love or a hate...no in-between. I couldn't do his classes all the time, but for something different it was nice. He does talk alot/tell lots of stories. He did call out cadence and resistance throughout though...no problems there.

His love of Britney is very evident in that ride.

Fell off schedule in the middle of the week, so my heavy squat day ended up being yesterday. Decided to follow through with my planned Metallica ride today. TERRIBLE decision.

Heh. I've only done that one ride with him really.

Went and got my all clear today finally from my vasectomy. It wasn't as weird as I thought. Everything was laid out. The porn they had on the TV was some low quality stuff, but it did the job necessary. Already got the results back as I was driving home that I am free and clear.

Also I didn't ask but I noticed on the sheet when I was filling it out that it seemed you could have a "partner" with you to help, or at least there was a place for a second person to sign. I didn't want to ask though ha.

On the Peloton side of things I chatted them up since they were giving that 300$ off coupon out to give to friends or use yourself towards new equipment and asked them if we could get the 300$ credit applied to the price of our bike since we are still within the return period. I told them I wasn't returning it or threatening to do so, but figured I would ask. Surprisingly they gave us the 300$ off towards what we financed so that was nice of them. They also gave us 3 months free all access membership ....and I'm not sure why, but I'll take it.

That's great. I got the coupon pushed to my phone the other day and thought it was lame you just missed out on it.

You kind of got the best of all worlds. The 'free shipping' ended on March 1 and now this discount is effectively a coupon that erases the new shipping charge. So you got the free shipping and the $300 off. And I got some shirts out of it. :D

Yeah no doubt it worked out well. No complaints at all. I got about 25 more rides till I get my century shirt.

Yeah my code for the 300$ off was in my spam folder for whatever reason. I also agree chatting them up (at least so far) has been very easy and they seem to be very helpful.

5 years (counting COVID year), and I've finally surpassed my body weight (hovering around 195, did 200) on the bar for squats.

Started the Intro to Powerzone program on Peloton this morning. First FTP test is tomorrow. We shall see how it goes.

I'm also closing in on ride 100. I'm trying to either time that with a live class, or do the 45 minute Kendall Metal ride for that one.

I just re-tested my FTP on Saturday. my FTP jumped 10 points but to be fair, I hadn't tested in 51 weeks.
I think you'll be fine but I recommend having a hurl bucket nearby. my first FTP test I started to dry-heave about 12 minutes in. I was able to hold on though.
Saturday I had the bucket at the ready but my prep and hydration plan worked and I didn't need it at all.
my legs afterwards were like this:

That FTP test was no joke. Not sure what a "good" number is honestly, but I was spent after that ride that's for sure.

A good FTP number is slightly higher than your previous FTP number.

Enjoy having PZ bars. It really added a certain depth to the experience for me.

I didn't have an FTP number before haha (never flipped it on since I didn't take the test until today)...so I guess this is just my baseline and I'll look to improve from there.

I guess I was just trying to figure out what a good baseline is to start. I know it varies based on height/weight/fitness etc.

The FTP in the settings on my bike is 221.
That's based on the average output of 233 from my test on 1/29.

I'm 6'4" 290lbs.

Looks like my FTP setting is 183.

I had average output of 192 on my FTP ride.

I'm 6ft and about 207 right now (getting closer to being back under 200 though slowly).

Yeah, that's why it's tough to compare. I'm getting 'credit' for higher output because I have more mass. But, in fairness, I'm working harder because of that mass.

My wife has a hard time with this. She's less than half my weight and gets really mad when we do the same workout and I burn twice as many calories.

Yeah that makes sense.

I guess I will see where I test after going through the powerzone course. Hopefully will see some improvement.

I probably need to take the FTP again at some point, it's been a couple of months.

I did my first 45 minute ride last night...I enjoyed it, although in the beginning, I found myself skipping past the warmup because I felt like I was wasting minutes without output

It's really fun to compare Strive Score against average output. It was lower on that ride than it has been on several 30 minute rides, and my average output was decent (176 watts). I wear a chest strap so I know this is accurate. My strive score was 56.

A month ago, I did a 30 minute ride and while my average output was very similar (177 watts), my strive score was 50.6...almost as high as it was in yesterday's 45 minute session. I guess that's progress...the other thing, I am finally ready to admit that you are more efficient in the saddle  But damn, I hate it on heavy pushes.
