Had my first workout post-concussion last night. No headache, so far so good.

Day 5 of the flu. Haven't been this sick since like, 2010. Truly is awful.

It's running rampant through our company... hoping to escape it.

Yea, Friday afternoon, it hit me like a truck - was in bed all weekend with the exception of a medexpress trip. These past two days I worked remotely in an effort to stay away. Today I thought I was good enough to last an entire day at work, I don't think that's going to be the case.
Was tested for the flu, didn't come back positive for the major strain used in the flu shot this year - but my wife was ready to give me the business about not getting the flu shot. Haven't gotten one in ten years and have only really been THIS sick twice in that span.

Turns out when you get into a "normal size" such as L in shirts, Goodwill is a gold mine. I went today with just the plan of trying stuff on to see where I'm at as far as size is concerned since I'm swimming in some of my current clothes. I couldn't find much in pants since I'm tall, but shirts... I found a fleece full zip sweatshirt that still had tags on, a couple Eddie Bauer button downs and a couple dress-ish shirts. $5 each.
So far this journey has me at:
285 lbs to 235 lbs
XXL shirt to L
Snug 40 waist to 36
14 ring size to 12
Could barely do a mile sub-12 minutes to 8 minute mile
Thanks to @skullman80 for the motivation, @dodint for MFP recommendation, and @mikey for the workout reading.

Haha, I know it's coming. But luckily, I should be able to keep up with my routine after a couple week break as my wife has off until August. I mean, the half hour I do at the gym everyday shouldn't be too bad. Plus I do all the cooking now, I'm sure that'll continue so I'll be able to control diet that way.

Did you patent a magic weight loss drug...? If so, bravo. If not, that's awesome anyway...
Frankly, I'm quite sure that you can run a mile faster than I can at this point...and I'm a buck 60 or so... :embarrassed:

Haha, I wish. I could be a bazillionaire.
And I run 4x a week now, so that probably is more than you run in a month (from what I've read from you anyways). That'd be like me being embarrassed that you cook a better pasta side packet or chicken patty than me.

A month?!?! if you don't count actual sports...I jogged to practice the other night (maybe a mile and a half give or take?) so that makes, um, once, since...uh, when did we invade Kosovo or whatever...?

This is awesome to hear. I've been trying to cut out some pounds. I'm struggling though. I'm about 280 right now and I've been going to the gym religiously 3-4 days a week for the past year now. And I've dropped 0 lbs. I feel a lot stronger from lifting, and my cardio is much better. I've mixed up stairs, treadmill, and circuit training while also fitting in lifting some days, and I can't get rid of anything. Now, I know my food intake has to improve, especially now that I'm older. I'm not looking to lose 60 lbs or anything, but I'd like to knock of 20 or so.Turns out when you get into a "normal size" such as L in shirts, Goodwill is a gold mine. MFP is huge... I knew I wasn't consuming the correct amount of calories per day, but I wasn't aware of just how far over I was every. single. day. I've logged every bite I've taken on MFP for 155 days straight, and it's helped me carve out that balance between eating what I like to eat and eating what I need to eat.

Should couples see the same therapist for individual counseling? On the one hand it seems like it should be separate, but on the other you'd think the quality of the service would be higher as she would have a more complete picture of the health of the household. Kicking around the idea of going and my wife really likes hers.

That's a tough one. I went to 2 therapists before I found someone that I really liked and was comfortable with. Once I found 'the one' they really helped me out big time. So you may or may not click with your wife's therapist. I think it also depends on the nature of the consoling. If it is for marriage issues (mine was) then maybe seeing the same therapist would be beneficial. My wife refused any type of consoling so I don't know how that would have worked out.Should couples see the same therapist for individual counseling? Generally, I would probably advise against it. For starters, even if your wife really likes hers, each person is wayyy different. On top of that, one of the reasons why I like going to therapy is that I can just unload, and we can sort of un-package my personal life, if that makes sense. I feel like if I knew that my therapist was also seeing my wife once a week, and I have no idea what she is discussing with him, it wouldn't be as good of an experience.

Update: down 13.3 lbs for the first month, which even includes a slight jump on Monday thanks to some weekend boozing while playing indoor golf. At this rate, I need to burn 2 lbs/week to be where I was when I went to Florida. It's certainly doable and not necessarily about the number itself.knocked off almost 5 lbs in a little under two weeks by cutting out the booze and the flatbread pizza from the work cafe.
Possibly heading to Florida in late March/early April and wouldn't mind getting back to where i was last year, which means dropping about 1.5 lbs a week for the next 6-8 weeks.
My problem is that I go on these crash diets where I burn off a bunch of weight in the first 2-3 months of the year, take it for granted through the summer and fall before I look in the mirror around Christmas and think "yo, you really need to drop some lbs."

To help build muscle faster, my trainer told me to get 3044-3608 calories/day.
I'm not even sure that's physically possible.
