Didn’t he find his calling as a pathologist?
Sure, he lost a body or two, but still…

my FIL is a retired Pathologist. he worked for the VA for 40 years. he's from Thailand and basically when he was in high school they said, "who wants to go to medical school to be a doctor in the States?" he figured pathology was low patient contact so he went that way. smart man.Forensic pathologists. Tough to lose a patient there.there are certain medical specialties that I've always assumed were the equivalent of a "safety school".....because hey, you're still a doctor.

One other thing during the vasectomy consult... dude grilled me a bit about being young and only having one kid. F*ck off, my man. I understand what I'm doing. One kid is enough and if I regret it later, I'll go adopt.

I think they have to ask that. When i went we obviously had zero kids, and I was 38 or whatever, but they still had to go over the this is permanent stuff and are you "sure" etc.One other thing during the vasectomy consult... dude grilled me a bit about being young and only having one kid. It was fine to go over it, but then circling back and asking if I’m sure sure. And then “you can take some time to think about it”. No. I just told you I’m done having kids and fully understand the procedure.

I did my first 60 minute ride this morning. First since 2011 anyway. It took everything out of me, I haven't felt this physically challenged since I used to run for distance. Burned over 1,000 calories.
Was just really surprised how physically challenging it was. I expected a mental challenge, boredom, etc. But it was the opposite. My legs were dead at 55 minutes and I really had to dig to finish.
I'm on my 28th day using Noom and am down 13.1 pounds. That's great, can't ask for better than that. But the reason I subscribed was to help me when I get complacent or motivation wanes. Haven't gotten there yet so we'll see how it holds up. I am really happy with their platform though.

I did a 60 minute class once...never again. 45 at the max but 30 normally. Some days a 20 and a 10.

I'm trying to do work my way up to 90. I miss endurance training. Though the class choices at to the 60/75/90 level gets thin, mostly PZ Endurance.

The only 60 minute ride I've done is the Metallica ride and I might have died during it.

I did not bookmark that one.

I've done a few 75 minute rides. I rarely go over 45 minutes and when I do, I bring out the padded cycling shorts. my favorite instructor, Christine has a Haleakala Challenge where you do 5 different 60 min Climbs, all in one day. the rides were made to simulate when she rode her bike UP Haleakala in Maui. I'd like to complete it but 5+ hours on a bike, I just don't know if I can do it.

I was thinking about stacking a ride that included one ride from each 5/10/15/20/30/45/60/75/90 length. That would be 5.8hrs. The longest I've ever done any cardio is marathon running so this would go over an hour beyond that.

I think the problem for me on longer rides is I get bored. When I did the PZ programs there was at least one 60 minute one and a couple 45 minute ones I think. I could physically do them, but mentally I was just bored towards the end. To do something that long I really need some music that I'm into to keep me interested I think.

I thought that was going to be my problem as well. So I purposely chose a non-PZ class because while the PZ classes serve a valuable purpose they're the least engaging kind of workout. Especially PZ endurance where you spend the whole time in zones 2 and 3.

That's a fair point. I think I've only done one class longer than 30 minutes that wasn't powerzone and it was probably a metal ride that made me want to die afterwards haha.
I did a 20 minute Tabata this morning and was spent afterwards

mikey shitting on track just reminded me:
My daughter has started running, and did pretty good in her first season of cross country. Now track is coming up and, like a lot of distance runners, she thinks its boring af. So I told her stories of running the 3000 indoors and she nearly gagged at the thought. She asked how I could possibly have enjoyed that, and I reminded her that I was a Nascar fan. Going around circles forever was right up my alley.
Indy Half marathon in 7 weeks. Hope I survive.

Nice. My ultimate goal is to get back into endurance running. I miss it a lot.
It's been nine months and I have the full function of my achilles again, which is nice. But it has a constant dull ache whenever I use it. Just enough to remind me that it is there and ready to ruin my life at a moments notice. So I am laying off running until I lose significantly more weight. Usually, my cutoff is 260lbs but I may wait until I get under 240.

Anyone have a recommendation for a fat guy saddle upgrade on an Echelon bike? Can I get one from the sporting goods section of Walmart or do I need a special order?
Decided a few weeks ago I'll start riding it. The 20 min classes are bearable but now that I'm moving into a little longer ones the saddle really starts to get uncomfortable. FWIW I try to always stay in the saddle because I currently exceed the weight limit of the bike, and I'm trying to not put massive stress on the crank and pedals.

I have been using this Schwinn Commuter saddle for years. also, make sure you get WAY back on that saddle. you should be practically hanging off.Anyone have a recommendation for a fat guy saddle upgrade on an Echelon bike?
