I had a lot of friends in college that rowed for a (then) club team. To practice/train, they would use an ergometer/rowing machine. They would get up and be out on the lake at 6 am and row for 90 minutes before class, then "erg" at the gym that night. It was mental imo.
That being said, a lot of them still erg to this day, 25+ years later. I guess it's addictive?

I might've mentioned it a long time ago but when I was in Afghanistan one of the other units had a big paper map in a conference room. One of the field grade officers was a rower. His thing was that he wanted to 'row' home. So every day he'd do his rowing then go to the big map and draw a line that equaled the distance he rowed that day. He wanted to get the line drawn from Afghanistan back to America.
Yuck.
Yuck.

Despite the price point, there doesn't appear to be any financing options either. Only Peloton diehards are going to be buying this thing and I don't think there's as many of those as the company wishes to believe there is. People actually into rowing already have better rowers for less money and are capable of using theirs without someone motivating them.

I like rowing because 10-15 minutes going HAM will kick your ass, but that's all I would ever do because all long, paced cardio bores me to tears. As a guy that likes stationary biking and running on a treadmill, rowing is **** dumb as ****. It takes me about 30 seconds to get bored to tears.

I feel like eventually they will have to offer financing to have anyone buy this thing outside of the diehards.Despite the price point, there doesn't appear to be any financing options either. Not gonna lie though if Kendall would insult me while I used the rower I would probably consider dropping the 3k.

The other thing that really pisses me off about Peloton is their scrapping of the Tread+ as a PR acquiescence. All of that development, marketing, and inventory down the drain because they got into a pissing match with the CPSC.
Though, given my injury, it's nice that I didn't buy one as it would've sat unused next to the Bike+ all of this time.

OK random Peloton question - I'm at my 10th ride, I've made it almost the whole way without my ass hurting. Does that ever get better?

Yeah you adjust. I know @dodint also suggested a seat cushion/pad at some point to help with that.OK random Peloton question - I'm at my 10th ride, I've made it almost the whole way without my ass hurting. Does that ever get better?

you can also just swap out the seat. depending on your size, you may need a bigger seat. this is a hot topic on Peloton Facebook groups. most say, "just suck it up!" but I don't believe in that. your sitbones may be different. you can go to a local bike shop and get fitted for a better saddle. when I got my Schwinn IC4 I never even installed the stock saddle. I just transferred the saddle that I'd been using for years on my ancient spin bike:OK random Peloton question - I'm at my 10th ride, I've made it almost the whole way without my ass hurting. Also, make sure you are as far back as possible on the saddle.

You are a bigger dude like me I believe. I bought the seat/seat pad dodint and shoeshine boy listed above. It helps, but I still get a sore ass once in a while. Listen to shad too, if you get those larger seats, sit as far back as you can. It definitely helps.OK random Peloton question - I'm at my 10th ride, I've made it almost the whole way without my ass hurting. Does that ever get better?

Yea that's one thing I really pay attention to, the instructors have said it everytime, but I try and make sure my ass is all the way back lol.

if you're doing it right, about 90% of your butt should actually be off the seat. when you were at the Peloton store did they fit you for the bike and give you a card with your numbers on it?

They didn't give me a card - but I memorized the numbers and have been making small adjustments since.

Just did a Ben Aldis ride, way harder than beginner classes, wasn't ready for it. Had to get out of saddle and my quads are on fire.

My subscription is still paused until Monday. I logged in to take a look around. Not thrilled to see many of the instructors are back to performing in front of a group of slobbering idiots. I very much preferred the simplicity of the instructor alone in the studio.

Yea, I saw one that had a group of people and I didn't join it yet. I know it's not live, just strange. I prefer the alone course because it feels like a 1:1.

You were already in a cool down ride by the time I got on for a quick 10 minute climb ride at lunch.Just did a Ben Aldis ride, way harder than beginner classes, wasn't ready for it. Had to get out of saddle and my quads are on fire.
Yeah the normal rides..you will come to learn who goes harder than others as far as instructors go. Lots of the 20 minute rides are deceptively tougher than some of the 30 minute or longer ones cause they tend to push more in the shorter ones sometimes.

Haha yea, I saw you on there. I wanted to get mine in for the day, in the middle, and it worked out perfect. I also learned that about the 20 minute ride, there were hardly any breaks. I set a PR though, so good. You were already in a cool down ride by the time I got on for a quick 10 minute climb ride at lunch.Just did a Ben Aldis ride, way harder than beginner classes, wasn't ready for it. my favorite "tough" workout is to string 2 20 min rides together. because I've done multiple FTP rides it makes getting a PR on those rides basically impossible.
