Ran my fastest outdoor 4mi run since 2013. Ran the river trail next to the Mississippi here in St. Paul with a 9:59 pace. Not my fastest ever but I am proud of it.
Makes me think I can do the 6.6k in under 40min with a modest effort.

Stopped in to the gym today to cancel my membership. Turned out it was 1 year ago to the day that I started this whole thing. I thought that was kind of cool. I have been to the gym once since my daughter was born (5.5 months ago), so I was just throwing away money. We're going to go and join the ymca this weekend because they have a pool and kid swim classes, and they also offer baby sitting as a part of their membership dues, so I can just go in, drop the kid off with the sitter, play some pick up basketball or lift or play pickle ball (side note: wtf is pickle ball?) and then come back and pick her up. Easy peasy.

They have everything for you men to enjoy at the ymca.Source of the post wtf is pickle ball?
I signed up to do a charity bike ride in a few weeks. It's 62 miles round trip, but I think I'll just do the half and call it a day. There's barely any time for me to train, with 2 young kids and my wife also trying to train for a trail run. This will be my first foray into any kind of distance riding since 2013.

I keep telling myself every year that I'm doing this bike run (https://www.rollbicycles.com/blogs/pres ... s-complete), but eight years later and I still haven't trained for it. Maybe this year is the year I get serious about it.I signed up to do a charity bike ride in a few weeks. It's 62 miles round trip, but I think I'll just do the half and call it a day.
Eh, probably not.

That seems pretty brutal. The ultimate ride for me would be the RAGBRAI in Iowa. My wife and I (and her dad) already have done the Pittsburgh to DC trail, so this isn't that much of a leap. Just need the time to train for it. And probably lose the dad gut along with 15 pounds.I keep telling myself every year that I'm doing this bike run (https://www.rollbicycles.com/blogs/pres ... s-complete), but eight years later and I still haven't trained for it. Update: I noticed the start button on my watch was starting to stick. Knowing that I just passed my warranty, I reached out to them and said "I know my warranty just lapsed but it was literally only a few weeks ago. Start button is starting to stick. What can you guys do?" They asked for my S/N and said "the satellite first fix date goes back to 2015. Are you sure this is the right watch?" I showed them the Amazon receipt with the ship date and didn't give me any hard time. The only thing they said was "some people on Amazon aren't honest about what they're selling unfortunately. We will go ahead and cover the replacement for you this time."Their customer service is good. I posted on twitter asking them to point me in the direction of a new watch band since the one for my Fenix snapped mid-run, and they went one better by sending me a new band.
They also called my safety pin looped through the band "inventive". It's the only thing I could do mid-run and I wasn't gonna trust it in my pocket.
So yes, chalk up another one for Garmin's customer service being amazing.

There is no denying I do indeed have a neckbeard. I look like I'm 12 without facial hair though, so it is necessary, and my wife prefers it... so be it.

Finally got off my lazy ass and signed up for the Lemieux run; nothing like paying full price.
That stretch parallel to the river is longer than it looks. It curves around so you can't really see where the turnaround is.
Mid-80s all next week and then rain afterwards. Honestly I'd take rain over the heat we had last year. I love running in the rain; but I can see how it would *ahem* dampen the event.
My wife is running this year so that's cool. I'm just hoping to do better than I did last time which was a 46:22. It should be doable but I've been sick and tapered off my training so who knows. I thought I'd be able to get under 40:00 but it looks like that's another 'next year' thing.

Wife doesn't want to run it this year and she is out of town anyways that weekend I think. I could run it by myself, but not sure if I am going to or not.
