That happens regardless at my age. I did a couple of YT videos in early January - 20 minutes in length, full body so probably 10 minutes of squats and lower body stuff like lunges, and I was crippled for a week. No amount of hydration and stretching prevents it.

I am likely going to give Noom a shot.
Started this yesterday. The fundamentals of it seem to be the same as I was already doing for the last 20 years, they're just designed to nudge you to better food choices and keep you engaged with your weight loss effort. It's making big promises (getting me back to my military weight by the end of August, about 60lbs dropped) so we'll see. If that happens it's worth the cost (about $22/mo).

I'll echo mikey's Stronglifts rec, while also offering up Jim Wendler's wide variety of 5/3/1 programs. Four lifting days a week: bench, squat, overhead press, deadlift plus associated accessories. It's intended for after you've gotten all you can out of a Stronglifts type 5x5, but are also great if you're older and can't recovery adequately from 5x5.

FWIW I figured I could ease into it with a machine circuit for a month or so, then move to free weights. Should I just go right to free weights?

Hm. Looks like Highmark offers a nice gym membership deal through Tivity. Allows me to go to several different gyms in the area and not be tied to just one.

Kendall is a nut. I don't normally do her classes but I'm starting to do 45-minute rides again and I wanted something different to boost me into it. I admire her enthusiasm but I had to turn the audio mix to "increase music, decrease instructor" because she won't STFU.

I'm really enjoying Noom. It's effectively going to be a MyFitnessPal replacement. I'm having a hard time breaking up with MFP though. I've been using it for a long, long time. And I currently have a 423 day login streak. The fact of the matter is that it wasn't enough for me to ever break the yo-yo cycle so I need to let it go. Their decision to kill the barcode scanner for non-sub users was a backbreaker. Ironically now I'm paying for a sub on another service, though Noom offers a bit more of what I need (psychological reprogramming).

don't bother with Apple Fitness then. I have the Apple One bundle so it's basically free for me. I rarely use it for cycling because Peloton is so much better. I started using the rowing classes with my Whipr but I swear, I can hardly hear ANY of the music over the instructors. it's highly irritating.

I stacked Kendall and Olivia rides yesterday and was surprised at how much louder the music was with Olivia versus Kendall. Side note is that I'm starting to get annoyed at the lack of new metal rides unless I want a German instructor.

Don't sleep on Charlotte she is awesome. I actually prefer her Metal rides to Kendall these days.

My peloton is currently broke, and they have to send a complete new bike out. I guess the bottom bracket broke, and the guy who came to repair it, stripped the nut completely and can't get it off.

So far, I've had two warranty fixes on it - for the price, that's kind of lame.

Something similar happened to mine. The bearings go bad after a year or so and can be replaced under warranty. The factory over-torqued the axle nut that holds the bearing in the flywheel. The tech wasn't authorized to fix that particular issue so Peloton send me a whole new frame. Which means everything was replaced except my monitor. That's actually pretty good customer service but also kind of explains one of the ways they're hemorrhaging money. I'm sure they fixed the flywheel and sold my bike as a refurb unit, though.

It wasn't an inconvenience for me because I could still use my bike while I waited for the new frame. It would have been frustrating otherwise.

I agree that for the price the build quality could be a bit better. My handlebars always feel 'loose' regardless of what I do to tighten them. But at least they actually fix stuff under warranty with zero hassle.

Yea, I could use my bike all the way up until yesterday, where the guy took it all off and stripped the nut, now it's sitting in pieces lol. Thankfully, still have a treadmill and just went back to it - but yuck.

Very glad I bought new instead of used, thats for sure.

You don't need to haha. Just follow the cadence/resistance numbers on screen and let her yell at you.

Sitting in the waiting room for my vasectomy consult. Man… there’s a ton of old dudes that visit urology.

I've always wondered what causes certain doctors to go into fields like urology and proctology. Nobody goes into school thinking, yeah, I want to shove my fist up old men's anuses and fondle their balls all day.

Are these doctors encouraged to go into these fields by their mentors and the mentors part of some quota program to ensure enough urologists/proctologists exist? Is there a significant pay increase for doing the dirty work? Are these the "somebody has to be last in their class" people?

there are certain medical specialties that I've always assumed were the equivalent of a "safety school".....because hey, you're still a doctor.

Dude told me my ball tubes are perfect. Had a student with him and said “grab gloves and come feel these”.

Like I’m sure he’s 100% used to feeling other people’s testicles daily, but to me it’s just bizarre.

Forensic pathologists. Tough to lose a patient there.
