Our new mattress and box spring get here on Thursday... here's to hopefully a better night's sleep. It's gotta be better than a decade old set that we bought for ~$200.

Left early to drive to my appt because of traffic. Got here way early. Sat in the car trying to calm myself down. Now in the waiting room.

I know. It's more mental than anything else. I've had stents and catheters yanked out my dick before ...this should be a walk in the park.

Report back with the hotness of the nurse. Apparently there are only two types. Absolute rockets and old grandmas.

Based on who I saw so far....I'm not hopeful. The lady actually doing the procedure is a normal looking semi attractive asian though. She's like the head of Urology in Pittsburgh or something.

@shafnutz05 Not sure what exact procedure you are getting done. Mine was a no scalapel vasectomy. There is also a no needle/no scalapel, but my numbing stuff was injected with a needle.

In any event I drove myself because of that I could only get local anesthesia. I was very nervous when I got there. My BP was like 164/115 or so. I was visibly shaking for a bit. There was an option to go twilight or get knocked out all together but I would have had to have someone else drive me home and my wife couldn't get off of work. In any event what she gave me worked very well, and once the actual doctor came in that I had discussed this with she calmed me down and all was good.

The worst pain I felt was the initial injection of the anesthesia on the skin.. it burned for a few seconds, then when she did the numbing of the actual tubes or what not it felt like a squeezing sensation for 5 seconds on each side, she had me count out and breathe and it wasn't bad at all.

Once everything kicked in I felt no real pain. It still feels like someone is tugging around a bit, and it's a weird sensation to have someone rearranging your junk. On the left side when I told her the tug/dull pain ramped up a bit she gave me some more numbing stuff and within seconds it went away. My right nut got scared I guess and tried to go up into my stomach so she had to bring it back down haha. By that time though all the numbing kicked in and I could feel nothing. She cauterized both sides with a machine after clamping them. I didn't smell skin burn like so many others said they did. It felt like a quick laser zap when she did it... pretty much painless. The only reason I knew she was doing it was because the beeping the machine made.

It probably took about 10-15 minutes for the whole thing including getting numbed up. We made small talk the whole time she was working. I think that helped too, it wasn't silence ... music in the background, conversation etc. Once we were done she had me sit up to make sure I wasn't dizzy. I went back to the recovery room, got dressed, got my discharge papers and was out the door 5 minutes later. I was able to drive home with no issues.

She was very adamant about taking it easy the first 2-3 days. She said that people tend to think all is fine and ramp back up too soon.. she said if you do that you will hate yourself for a week or so afterwards. I was told to ice the first few days 20 minutes on/off, and take tylenol if I had any discomfort. (not ibruprofen due to it thinning the blood). I can't shower for 2 days, no sex for a week...and I have to go back in like 10-12 weeks to make sure everything actually worked by giving a sample.

All in all... most of my worry was all mental. The actual procedure was at worst at a 3 on the pain scale and that was at the very beginning for a very short time.

We will see how the next few days go and if I have any major swelling or pain. I'm icing up as we speak, and will see if I need any tylenol after the numbing stuff wears off.

Edit: Also wear supportive underwear/boxers. To help hold things in place afterwards and for the next week or so.

Not the best picture of her, but there you go. That is who was cauterizing my junk about 30 minutes ago haha.

10-15 minutes? Lucky guy. Mine was at least an hour. I imagine he was trying to get all these tubes out of the way to find the right ones. At least that's what it felt like.

For argument’s sake, that’s a 5.

A few years back, a 7.5 (relative to this) had to give me a testicular cancer exam because of some suspicious happenings. The hands were everywhere.

Anyway, Mrs. S was also in the room as it was happening and to this day I’m not sure how I feel about that moment.

I just looked and I sent my wife a text when I was going back to the actual operating room and it was 9:05. I sent her a text when I was back in the recovery room with my discharge papers in hand and it was 9:37. So 32 minutes including getting numbed up to me being handed my discharge papers and leaving. That would put the actual procedure at like 20-25 minutes I guess?

The prep and numbing was the longest part or so it seemed.

No no…she meets the qualifications to make the experience interesting.

Are you on Valium or are you straight sober?

Sober. I popped a extra strength Tylenol when I got home and am icing but that's it.

See how things are later I think the numbing stuff lasts several hours they shot me up with.

One thing I was not prepared for was the amounting of bruising that occurred. This is coming from a cat that had pucks shot him daily for 20+ years. I had bruising from my hip bone about 1/3 of the way down my thigh. Some of it was really really dark purple.

I was told ahead of time unless I got twilighted or put under I was able to drive myself so it was no big deal. Not gonna lie though a valium would have calmed me down at the start lol.
