This getting old stuff blows. I’ll be 37 by the end of the month. I’ve squatted 400 lbs since I was like 19. I’ve been getting some knee pain after leg days and I’m wondering if the old hinges don’t want to throw that amount of weight around anymore. It’s weird because I feel stronger than I ever have been, but the joints just don’t want that strain anymore. I’ve even done some joint strengthening work, but I don’t know. Might be time to lighten the load
Same bro. Not a 400 squatter, to be real, but certainly up there. More than 2x my body weight at my best. But I've scaled it down to that power squat machine, I don't need that kind of weight on my back and shoulders any more. I have done much more one leg stuff. I've lightened everything up and add some additional movements to try to help out my ligament and joint health. My shoulders have always been trash, but they're getting dinged up a lot now...now my elbows and knees are feeling it, which is rare...so I've scaled it down, slower more concentrated movements, no ego lifts...I'm liking it and still keep everything tight.

I need to reevaluate. I’m afraid my self-esteem is directly tied to my 400 lb squat and 300 lb calf raises.

I only drink on Friday and Saturday, and other non-work nights. I keep it to 4, tops. Was coughing up a lung last Friday but had 3 vodka limeades anyway, I felt like absolute trash on Saturday.

I had to drop back squats 5+ years ago due to spinal compression concerns. Regardless, I still go HAM like a dumbass on heavy front squats, goblet squats, split squats, etc. I've noticed that while my muscular recovery tends to be fine, my joints/ligaments/tendons feel like **** and take longer to be ready for another go.

I usually have a beer with dinner each night and occasionally on the weekend a small glass of bourbon or Scotch. Before the baby, I used to have a couple beers on the weekend or a beer and that small glass was a medium.

yeah. when my knee starts shaking on a leg press, I can’t just say “f you knees, you’re pushing this weight up” like I used to.

If I have more two drinks at night, I won't really be hungover to a point but I will always wake up in the wee hours wide awake and anxious. That came on in my late 30s
That's the way that I am. I cut back on my drinking majorly. I usually don't drink during the week and might have a beer or two with dinner if I go out somewhere on the weekend. But anything beyond two beers is a guaranteed 3 AM wakeup call for me. I don't get it.

40 I was fine with. Even when I was 44, I was like "what's the big deal about turning 40?? I feel fine."

The **** second I turned 45, everything went downhill for me.

I very rarely do a Jenn Sherman ride...one because I hate her taste in music, and two she just kind of annoys me. They had a 10 year sing along ride though with her, Cody, Alex, Matty M. etc that was on Demand so I took that this morning. It was pretty fun even if it ended with Bruce Springsteen at the end.

Jenn Sherman the few times I did her rides, she ended up standing or not riding most of the time. Just don't care for that.

Yup, same. Long stretches of her not even pedaling. No thanks.

I like Sherman ok and her not pedaling doesn't bother me. it's my ride, not hers but I do wish she wouldn't sing a long.

It's more of a mental thing I guess. I like when they're doing it with me, I'd be fine if there was a person that interacted just a bit, not much, and just worked out lol.

She does too much yapping. Her and Kendall both just talk way too much. Leats Kendall is busting her ass lol.

I did the drum and bass ride with Mila Lazar last week. I think she was trying to kill me. I'm not quite ready for doing mid 50s resistance late into a 30 minute ride.

Also, kinda disappointed that the Peleton app doesn't track well inside. On Thursdays, I'll run the app while I'm curling. It counts calories but it shows my distance as --. Kinda odd to see an exercise of 1600 calories and no distance.
When I ran it through Apple's app on the watch, it tracked my distance between 2 and 2.5 miles in a six end match. We typically do an 8 end match, so I'm guessing it would be closer to 3 or 3.25 mi.

I joined a Peloton group on Facebook. I'm thinking about starting some strength routines over the winter and wanted someone that would just pick the classes for me so I could stack them and go. My request to join was approved. I start looking through the discussion and there is not a single male name anywhere. So now I feel like a creep.

lol! I wouldn't worry about it. there's plenty of dudes in that group and of course, on Peleton but I think guys want to be seen as lifting "heavy weights" like Power Lifting. I made the mistake of doing the 10 min Glutes and Legs class from last Monday with heavy weights when I hadn't done a G&L class in MONTHS. for the next 4 days, anytime I stood up or sat down it was, "OW! OW! OW! OW!"

Nah, I'm not looking for MAD GAINS. I'm looking for functional fitness and toning. I am very tentative about doing any kind of lifting while I'm actively trying to lose weight. So I'm hoping this program will make me functionally better without packing on pounds and pounds of muscle weight. If all goes well by next summer I'll have less fat and a better baseline of functional fitness and then I can transition to free weights.

I set a new 30 minute PR on the Peloton. I guess I'm back.

Olivia is the best.

Total Output 434kj
Distance 11.47mi
Avg Output 242watts
Avg Cadence 79rpm
Avg Resistance 56%
Avg Speed 22.9mph
Calories 562kcal

I'm close to being able to average 250 watts. I bet I can get there in a few weeks. I was over 245 for most of the ride but I was hanging on for dear life the last 5 minutes and gave some back.
