Last night, I had two glasses of red wine, a Vital IPA, and a Fat Tire. I woke up today feeling like I got hit by a truck. What has happened to me? :(
Pantyhose on too tight?

Your drinking game is on the Butt Squad right now...

It's like anything else, you gotta train for it...you have two beers for a couple of days, then three for a couple, then four for a few...then five for a few...next thing you know, you're pounding down a 30 while mowing your lawn...

I think that's the problem. I've cut back significantly on drinking. I felt like I was doing it too much as my job was getting more stressful and made a conscious decision to rein it in before it got too out of control. So that's good, but yeah, my tolerance isn't what it used to be.

Yeah, I went through that this winter...now that the playoffs are over, I'm on quite the little self-destructive bender...every weekend night since we won, I've been hitting it pretty hard, out til 4:30 at night and ****...college throwback all of a sudden...you just gotta keep at it...

That said, I don't really drink beer anymore...my tequila game is hot right now...I've had maybe two beers in the last three months or so...beer seems particularly bad for your body, or more aptly, mine...so I stick to the hard stuff...I'm not sure if you're married to beer like people are, but if you're not, see if a transition towards liquor makes your mornings better, it does for me...

Same. Realized I'm not a beer fan and probably won't ever be, so stop faking it. Rum game is on point, though.

Skipped another night at the gym under the guise that I'm getting up to work out at 530 tmw  I really need to get membership for the gym at work and go right from my desk. The hour drive home has absolutely killed my weekday gym routine.

Listening to an old This American Life about accepting being fat as something to be celebrated. Triggering me pretty good. For someone who has been in marathon shape and fat, I can tell you first hand being in shape is better.

When I was on vacation last week in NYC.. I ate all the things, and in huge amounts. I also walked 10 miles a day. This week was back to normal, but that was a nice little deviation from the norm and I enjoyed every salty/sweet/fatty bite of the food I ate during the 5 days in NYC.

That's the key, you can generally eat whatever as long as you stay moving...my diet is far from perfect, but I move, so therefore my body doesn't go all funhouse mirror on me...

I forgot that I signed up for another 5k in august until recently. Which means I need to prepare somewhat soon so I don't look like a fool and stay under 30 minutes or even better 27ish minutes. I'm not sure why I signed up other than I think I get a free cape cause it's a super hero 5k.

I ran for the first time in two months (thanks awesome foot injury thanks to golfing... don't ask... seriously) this past weekend. Was hoping for 30:00, came in at 27:50 which even included me stopping off to snap about 7-8 pics around Inner Harbor.

Doing a 5k near my old office on Saturday, so I might have a better idea where I really stand since I won't be snapping pics.

My wife's been wanting to do half marathons in every state (her uncle has already done full marathons in them all). So she was planning on getting in shape to do one at her sister's in Fayetteville, AR. Then as we're sitting in church there's a group that runs to drum up money for clean water in Africa and they're selling us on the KC Marathon in October. So I look at her and figure that's the perfect excuse to get her actually training and that I'd do it with her. We kind of accidentally sign up to do the full distance though, instead of the half.
Knowing my schedule, she doubts I can do it and tries to nicely talk me out of it. I laughed and reminded her the last time we did the KC half I had stop training about 6 weeks out and I still finished right with her. It wasn't that long ago, I'm not in that bad of shape.

She reminded me of exactly when it was: 2009.
Remember me well lads.

My first half marathon, I barely trained. It was really irresponsible in hindsight. I did really well considering (2:21), but I couldn't walk afterwards.

My second, on a much more challenging course, I was running for the couple of months beforehand but not really on a training regimen. I finished that one in 2:10, and felt much better afterward. I'm ready for my third....I love that distance.

Hit personal highs in both squats and deadlifts ((8 x 155) x 3 for squats, (135 x 5) x 2 -> 155 x 3, 135 x 3 for deadlifts).

Gonna feel this one bad in the next few days.

you squat that much more than you deadlift?

Also, you squat and deadlift on the same day?

Today was leg day. I do shoulders/pecs/abs/tris on one day and legs/biceps/back/abs on the other.

I did match weights for 3 deadlifts but yeah I guess I currently squat more than I deadlift.

We also wanted to ease into the deadlifts (this is only the 3rd time I've done them since I started lifting at this gym in January) because I'm doing so much other activity (ultimate, ice hockey, dek hockey) that my hamstrings are always tight and we're trying to balance the lifting and the running/skating.

Probably going to increase them in the future, since it hasn't been a problem this far.

Hamstrings are tight because of anterior pelvic tilt, amirite?

Are you sure your hamstrings are actually "tight"

I'm busy but you might actually want to do some research about them being too loose, it's common in athletes

On a personal note I've changed my training.

I always have had problem with using the barbell as a form of self mutilation. Going in and just completely throwing everything you have into the bar until your CNS is so depleted it's like someone gave you a sedative. The endorphins or whatever obviously made me feel really good, runners high... But it's like any other high that you can abuse
