I’m in a holding pattern, because if my current supervisor - who is the ideal candidate - is actually put into that role, I’ll continue doing what I’m doing. If they bring in somebody external, I’m gone.
I was in that until last week when they confirmed him in the role. So I'm happy

Only 180 unread e-mails on my first day back. That's surprisingly low.

I was at 427. I was pleasantly surprised...and I've only been kind of hassled since my return...maybe I will take more time off...

427? JFC, that's ctrl-a, delete territory.

That sounds more like mostly spam than anything, for a 2 week period.

I consider a good portion of the e-mail I receive internally to be spam.

I also guess I dont get enough emails for things to be considered spam outside of auto-emails and things sent to the whole University.

I heard a new corporate-speak buzzword today.

"Upskilling"

You know. Training. Was spotted by a state government friend of mine in California.

I would love to do some upskilling but my company has cut the upskill budget the last three years. Then they'll go ahead and reorg and backfill those roles with upskilled upstarts out of college who have the necessary upskill but zero experience thus less overhead.

I have never heard that phrase, and it sounds stupid.

Correct. I can't imagine the amount of money someone makes who came up with this. It sounds a lot like what's happened at the University I work at over the last few years. Unreal what these higher ups come up with. The time wasting is staggering. I'm 40 **** years old, I don't need to spend numerous days a year with other professionals doing elementary school building exercises. Leave me be so I can do my work.

My previous employer rebrands everything to the point that nobody knows what anything is.

"Hey, I heard soandso is down, what's going on?"

"WTF is soandso?"

"[actual name of application]"

"Why didn't you just **** say that?"

My company loves buzzwords and can't say I've never heard upskilling.... I'm sure it's coming though haha.

it sounds as stupid as upcycling. I cringe everytime I see that sht on Facebook.

You upcycled a pallet? I believe the word you are looking for is repurposed.

My boss's last day is tomorrow, and management has yet to actually acknowledge it publicly. I guess we're supposed to pretend that it's not happening? This is our the exec over our group handles things, whereas other execs inform people, wish them well, etc. What a massive **** NTP66 she is.

My boss’s boss just turned in his resignation. This makes 3 senior directors - two of which were fired, 2 managers, and three senior engineers that have left since she took charge. And every single one of them started looking for jobs because of her.

Just got word today that I'll have my first patent issued here within the next few months as it's been accepted by the patent office. I'm an inventor, yo.
My patent has been issued as of today. 10,881,986. Kinda cool. I hope I get a plaque or something.
