I'm prepping for my phone screen on Wednesday (which I just realized the recruiter has not confirmed yet)..... has anyone here ever worked a 9/80 schedule?

I work that in the summers since mrs meow is a teacher and has summers off. It takes me two weeks to get used to it

This company does the 9/80 thing year-round. Nearly all of the comments I'm reading about them (even the ones that are overall negative and 'do not recommend') say the place really goes the extra mile in making sure employees strike a healthy work-life balance. Then again, I was just scanning LinkedIn profiles of employees and found a guy who has been with the company since the mid-00s and only lists his current job title.... which is the same one I'm interviewing for.

I think I’d much prefer working from home a few days with a 5-day work week as opposed to that, especially if your day off is an oddball day like Tuesday or Thursday. Still a better option than a tradition in-office full work week.

When I did it in WI everyone either had a Friday or Monday.

That would be the ideal scenario with that shift. Our team is waiting to hear back on whether or not we can add a third work from home day without converting our cubes to “shared space” (which would never work based on the fact that we have massive amounts of hardware in each cube).

This place is every other Friday is the off day. (The recruiter even mentioned it in her initial comm to me.)
My only worry is that this company has a relatively new office building, and their website talks about 'designing the workplace' and such; I'm afraid it's an open office environment. But that's putting the cart ahead of the horses.

I would hate that, but maybe it works out in specific environments. If I found a job I loved I could learn to deal with it.

I'd do the 9/80 thing in a heartbeat... unfortunately it's not an option, yet.

Yep. I'm already working ten hour days. I think its a cultural thing to allow two Fridays a month off, especially for traditional based companies.I'd do the 9/80 thing in a heartbeat... unfortunately it's not an option, yet.

Working from home every Friday has completely transformed my work week. I used to constantly feel like I needed a "maintenance day" just to be at home and unwind a bit. Now that I'm home every Friday, I rarely, if ever, feel like I need a day off just because. It makes the week seem so much shorter.

So who do I address a formal resignation letter to?
My manager, HR, tell the CEO to go f*** himself?
I mean, I’ve been to talking to my manager for a couple days about it so I’m not dropping a bomb.

Last time I did it I wrote it to my supervisor, then he had me rewrite it to my division head.

Take a sht on the CEO's desk. I think that will clear up any misconceptions.

My buddy said if he wins the lottery he’s keeping it a secret and coming into the office in a robe with a bottle of crown and sitting at his desk until somebody has the nerve to fire him. He figures people will think he’s snapped and not approach him for fear of setting him off for at least the whole morning.Take a sht on the CEO's desk. I think that will clear up any misconceptions.

Address to your official manager/supervisor, cc to head of HR, and cc to your department head if it's someone other than the addressee. So who do I address a formal resignation letter to?

I presumed this was an actual letter.
