As opposed to the people who bug me from my vehicle's warranty department and the Department of the IRS?I'd rather not have that $250 than have the specter of future annoyance loom over my head for an indeterminate amount of time...

I feel like this is somehow a test from your company. A while back we got a company wide email that was sent to everyone that was obviously a phishing attempt. Like really obvious. Still people were dumb enough to click on it. If you were not a dummy and clicked on report this as fishing attempt in outlook you got a nice email basically saying you are not a moron haha.

I don't know how to answer your riddle. My point is, I wake up every day with one goal in mind: I'd like to not be hassled. I can see a very realistic scenario where I talk about trade secrets and business practices to an unknown entity and then one day...I wake up hassled. I can find $250 in change on my walk to work, it's not worth the potential for hassle...just potential, mind you...but still...As opposed to the people who bug me from my vehicle's warranty department and the Department of the IRS?I'd rather not have that $250 than have the specter of future annoyance loom over my head for an indeterminate amount of time...

Yesterday morning the far right conspiracy theorist PM loudly announced all his meetings were canceled and proceeded to BS all day and talk loudly across cube rows. Literally all day. He is up to mostly the same stuff today but add in the PM that yells curse words and bangs his desk multiple times a day. And the person diagonally from me has been on YouTube for three hours. I pretty much leave my headphones in all day now. This is what happens when all the managers are in other locations..
Get me out of here.

Video and send it to the managers anonymously.

Good idea. It really sucks when I’m on conference calls and sometimes can hard to hear some people even if it was quiet in here.

A few of us worked our butts off the other week. Got 200 star points as a bonus. Can trade 192 in for $225 in Amazon credit. Not bad.

I get a job application, and reach out to the person to schedule a quick phone conversation (I make it clear in the email it's 10-15 minutes).
I always love when I get a response (like this one this morning): "Hello, I can be reached at night after 7 PM. My number is....."
I cannot imagine applying for a position, and telling the recruiter that they can only call me after SEVEN O CLOCK AT NIGHT. Are people really this oblivious? You really can't find 10-15 minutes during the week to talk to a potential employer? wtf.

So amid our university's neverending budget woes, I am currently down to 4.5 staff (one part time position, obv). We normally have 7.5 and once upon a time had 8.5 staff.
Yet we're expected to maintain the same level of service and open hours.
We lost one faculty position, which was fine because we've basically been functioning fine without the previous occupant of that position (she was the useless one I've complained about here before. She didn't get tenure and used a Jedi mind trick to get a job elsewhere without a current supervisor's reference[!]) They approved another part-time and a full time employee, however, and my dean filled out the paperwork and sent it on to HR.
Two weeks later, I hear nothing. I follow up with the dean who follows up with HR. HR "never saw the email," if you can believe that bullshit. They posted the jobs on our site later that day.
Now our issue, 10 days after posting, is that we are getting terrible applications. Most are qualified, which is nice, but as we're in a small town we know several of the applicants wouldn't be a good fit. And so it goes.
Management isn't for the faint of heart, friends.

Customer service is having their own little lunch today, and they're doing sauerkraut and hot dogs. They've got the sauerkraut on in the break room in an electric oven/slow cooker type thing, but the smells have invaded the entire office. Everything smells like sauerkraut...

I was in product support for 6 years before moving to the engineering side a few months ago and customer service week is going on in my old building. Thursday is pasta bar day... so I'm going to pretend I'm back in product support for a day and go get pasta on Thursday haha.

Sauerkraut is for fools...
In fact, that lunch just sounds terrible in general...meat logs and trash cabbage...? What did they do so wrong? I'd rather be fired...

Maybe if you consumed more fermented foods (such as sauerkraut) your stomach would be better off...

Cabbage is a greatly underrated vegetable. And fermented foods are delicious. Random fermentation trivia: you don't need to add any microbes to cabbage to make sauerkraut. The bacteria that are on the raw vegetable will accomplish the fermentation so long as you take care to prevent contamination.
This reminds me that I haven't made kimchi fried rice in a while. So good.
