This morning, I've had one person stop me in the hallway and another call me on the phone to let me know they were about to send me an email. The email is the communication. A preamble is not necessary.
The "did you get my email" people are the worst.

The 6pm email followed by the 7am “did you do the thing I asked yesterday” email is the worst flavor.

I always make a reference to that purple hippo from that cartoon where the cartoon characters are lawyers. That hippo cracks me up and those people annoy the hell out of me...there's half a dozen in my company easy...

My last job had the highest concentration of people who would send an e-mail and then immediately walk over to your desk to talk to you about it.

Had to solder a wire lead back onto a circuit board today. Been a while since I had to do that.

PMS are simply incredible. We're getting a new product line from another factory. I'm testing one of the units, which I was getting rushed by my supervisors. In the process of testing I ran into an issue. Said issue was on a part that was a prototype and wasn't going to operate. They're sending this unit off for a shake test anyway so testing it was pointless.

Saw a goof in the echoing elevator lobby on a phone call, but it was on speaker. He would talk into the bottom of the phone right next to his mouth and then immediately put the speaker next to his ear to hear the other person. Like come on dude..

A bit of gear grinding here, but we shouldn't be finding out what kind of raise we're getting by checking our job profile in Lawson. Our CTO has yet to inform my manager if anything was approved, etc., and he isn't allowed to relay what he put in for until she does so. I checked Lawson this morning since we're in a new pay period to see that I received a 3% bump.

It’s when the middle digit of the hand goes up by itself.

VP caught me making a pot of coffee and he said, "A whole pot? It's 2:00... most of that'll go to waste." I told him there's a pretty solid group that comes out and gets an afternoon cup. So while it was brewing we were just shooting the sh*t and our quality manager comes out looking for a cup of coffee. Halfway through him explaining how he was berating me for making a full pot of coffee, one of our customer service reps comes out to fill up his cup.

You always need to have coffee around here... always.

Found out today that our company’s retirement matching plan is now an annual match. Thanks for the 6% match, but I’d certainly prefer to have it split up into payments that coincide with my normal 403b contributions.

We get a 100% match at 3%, then an extra 3% at the end of the year which they consider our "pension". You only get it if you are employed on 12/31, so they save there.

6% match per pay period, then 4.5% of our salary at the end of the year for a total of 10.5% in retirement.

Some of those are very generous.

Ours is 100% of the first 3% and 50 of the next 2%.

I can't really complain about our retirement package given that we're not for profit. We have access to VG institutional funds which has worked out quite nicely for me over the years.

yeah any semblance of OT for salaried employees went away here at least 10 years ago.

Our benefits are crazy awesome... pay up to 50% of childcare costs (per child), 80% of gym memberships, company wide bonuses. Not to mention all the free meals. It's great stuff.
