Yeah right around 30. Think the world revolves around them. Can't see past their own face. No job ownership, want no responsibility. And, my favorite, I did a good job this year, so that means I get a 100% raise and a 5 level promotion, right?

That's the problem - there's no good people out there for what we do. Kind of an issue in our industry. So, we take what we can get hoping we'll find a diamond in the rough.
It's strange because on some things they'll knock it out of park, and other times you feel like they're going to tell you to come to the bathroom to help wipe their bum. It's bizarre.

I’ve had difficult people from every generational group. It’s quite balanced that way.
My most difficult person - the one who didn’t get tenure last year and left abruptly (thank God) - was GenX. A 50 year old woman who got upset that we didn’t remember her birthday. Yeah.
I had a Google Meet staff meeting yesterday to discuss reopening procedures, and my one problem child - a Millennial - was up to no good. She actually is an exceptional worker and brings a lot to the table, but is high maintenance. She is always at 80% health (at best) and has an endless list of allergies, maladies, aches, and pains. Yesterday, it was (and usually is) about the HVAC in our building. Will it work correctly when we return?
Just listening to her discourse on the building A/C, I could start feeling a dull tension headache coming on. Something I haven’t felt really since mid-March, coincidentally the last time I spoke with her.
So it goes.

Millenials = high maintenance. That's a good way of putting it.

I find the opposite, though I'm not exactly "management", but the older people (non-millenials) are my toughest customers because they refuse to learn new things, so it costs me a bunch of time and effort training, retraining, and returning things.
We've been in this system for 3 years now (moved from Oracle) and it amazes me how many older people, who have been here that entire time, either cannot or refuse to learn the new system.

Guy joined a zoom meeting this morning with about 150 people (including directors and VPs) with his camera on while lying in bed. Took him about 10 minutes to put tape over the camer.

This right here. I manage a team of 8, and I've got 3 guys in the mid 30's that are always adaptable, always looking to be efficient, and always working hard.I manage people aged 22 to 64. Millennials are by far the easiest - in my experience. By far
I have two older guys who are just an absolutely chore to handle.
The one thing I hate about management most, is being promoted to manager, and still having to do your non manager role.

I'm rolling through my testing of Skype for Business, Webex, and BlueJeans, all with their respective optimization packs, in Citrix. Skype and BlueJeans are very good. Webex? Total dumpster fire.

My wife uses bluejeans. It doesn't make sense to me.

My team got split into three sub-teams with each of them having their own "manager" aka lead. So three team leads reporting to overall team manager (this split was her idea). The one chosen for my sub-team is pretty useless. He told us in the beginning this was his first time being a manager and he wouldn't micromanage. Narrator: He is micromanaging now. I remember last year when we lost some people due to them leaving the company (and he wasn't a lead yet) we had a meeting with our department director as he took over the team on an interim basis to discuss how we would handle our duties going forward. This guy actually told the director he would defer to me to triage things when critical incidents happened while he "worked on his projects"...He only had one project and that was on hold. There was a few seconds of awkward silence and then the director said, "During critical incidents, its all hands on deck. No project work"
I don't know what he does now on a daily basis besides micromanage and be the mouthpiece for the overall team manager. Like she is queen and he announces her decisions to us peasants. The overall team manager doesn't interact with us at all, doesn't even attend staff meetings or take part in team chats.
In case you couldn't tell, I work at a Fortune 500.

My boss's promotion is official now, so he's two rungs above me with a vacancy in between. He wants me to apply for it and he made sure the announcement included Pittsburgh so I would be eligible. It would be my first time as an actual supervisor, and I would be supervising the team I work on now. I'm not enamored with the idea but it is the next logical step. My hope is that one of the Team Leads, who make the same as that position, also apply and beat me to it so I can just take their position and not have the supervisory responsibilities.

Ours took 25% and the executives each donated $1 million to a teammate relief fund.

Being a supervisor in the government isn’t worth it. Low pay relative to private industry and a **** ton more bureaucracy. My boss's promotion is official now, so he's two rungs above me with a vacancy in between. Our company rolled out a new Auth platform to all our mobile devices this past weekend. Somehow the team that owns the platform didn't realize that 80k users would be logging on this morning so we have about 65k bricks in our personnel hands. And only 65 because the west coast hasn't tried yet. Someone's likely gonna go.
