Although I've been out of public account for about 15 years. Still keep my certification active though.

It was very nice. Really good people at the new firm. More laid back it seems, less unnecessary stress in my estimation. Just a better culture. And yes they appear to have a better eye for talent..Well, how did it go? Any hot women in the office?

Outside of what was said here, I've heard those tests are very difficult.

Those tests are the reason I didn’t try for my professional engineer’s license. Not worth the hassle for a multiple choice test

As a mechanical engineer? Not much. You can do HVAC work and other building code stuff. Otherwise, worthless. For civil engineers it’s almost necessary. What does having that license get you? Those tests are the reason I didn’t try for my professional engineer’s license. Thanks for the kind words, @NAN.
It is frustrating for me as I am the opposite of her. I have never failed a meaningful exam in my life, but I am a mediocre practitioner. Life is weird.

It’s weird the requirements different jobs have to gain entry to doing them. My wife is a Social Worker. All a BSW gets you is the ability to do low level, often sub $10/hr jobs like working at group homes or day treatments, you need an MSW to go anything higher level. Some places require state licensure, where you have to pass the standardized test through the state. Then you can become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker which requires monitoring by another LCSW who you pay, essentially as an advisor. I
Meanwhile I make 3x what she does and only really needed a Bachelors’, although I do have an MBA.

I too am a CPA. Hardest thing I've ever done in my life. Extremely stressful. I'll keep a good thought for your wife, @dodint

dodint, did your wife get her DPT or a masters? I met my wife right around the time she was finishing her DPT and going through the testing phase. She did have a big party with friends once she passed her test, so it was a big deal. I was a bit intimidated by her at the time bc I couldn't have a conversation with her without her mentioning some obscure bone or muscle. It pretty much consumed her life at the time.
It's definitely like you said though - information that is completely lost as soon as you pass the test.

She didn't like the DPT program at Slippery Rock as it was ridiculously neuro heavy, so she ended up moving away from DPT and into PTA which only required a two-year degree. Seton Hill is getting a DPT program so if she feels the need to go back and get the doctorate she'll do it there. She keeps in touch with Slippery Rock people and they're actually changing the curriculum a bit, in alignment with her complaints, but she's not going back there again regardless.
The PT/PTA tests are similar. The training program my wife is paying for has PTs and PTAs in the same classes, actually. And yeah, she does the same thing your wife did. We'll be talking about a seemingly normal topic and then she'll start spouting off names of bones and ligaments.
I studied hard for the bar exam and just barely got by, but her level of prep is on a completely different level. Painful to watch her have to do it again. Our bedroom is partially converted into a study for her. We've been joking about the glorious day when we get to throw away her desk. Now it's at least three more months away.

I'm surprised my wife kept all her books. We have probably 2-3 bookcases dedicated to her school books and notes. Only time she ever went back to use them was when she taught courses at Chatham a few years ago.

My wife kept hers, probably because of how much she paid for them.

That too. On the other hand, I remember taking my Heat Transfer book, throwing it in the air, and Bloodsporting the heck out of it after finals.

The only good COVID has done is created a stupid amount of CPE. I think last year I had my requirement by June and this year I'm still going to hit the mark despite having rollover.
