This is me to a client asking to speed something up...I'm fairly friendly with the guy, even though he's a bit of a space cadet...

Hi [client],

This [widget] can be, and is done from a [sub widget] perspective. As usual, [extraneous service] often take a couple weeks to return because that’s how long the state takes to process them. Let me know how you want to proceed, as that’s the only thing that’s pending.

For around three months now I have effectively not even been looking for a job. There's a high probability that we're moving back to LA before the end of the year, and I can't in good conscience start a new job here in SF on that timeline.

Today I got notified that Lucasfilm - the company I moved to California to hopefully someday work at - is looking for a paralegal. It will be production support for their live action and animated TV shows for the new Disney streaming service. The only TV content they are producing is Star Wars.

I can't win.

That's the "can't win" bit. I don't want to live here any more. So I'm at the point where what is potentially my dream job has come up, and I don't want it now because it would obligate us staying here. It's as if SF has come up with a new wildly creative way of punching me in the dick yet again.

If you spend 8 hours a day happy working your dream job, I bet the other 8 hours you're awake would be significantly improved.

I once read that LA and SF are not far from each other...in fact, they have many, many similarities...in fact, the only thing different about them is that one has your dream job and the other one has fake t***...

No tunnels from LA to SF. And LA to SD isn't exactly a picnic ride, either. That's a nearly 3 hour trip.
