I am anti-corporate fluff and buzzwords. I don't respond positively to it and have no background to it (father and grandfather were self-employed)...

If you’re anti-buzzwords, like I am, you’re going to hate this.

Our company is huge into Lean and kaizen stuff. I think it's mostly useles and a bunch of buzzwords and acronyms. Everyone has to be Lean certified though. It's dumb. I remember building paper airplanes during the two day workshop thing.

The people who eat that **** up are usually the more useless people in the company, in my experience.
My old company had a "LEAN Consultant" and it honestly amazed me that he was probably getting six figures for the nonsense.

We have two people at our company that do nothing but Lean trainings and stuff. One is silly but we have two.

I was on a team building with our COO and I didn't even know it till afterwords. Oops. He was really nice and down to earth though.

I've worked for Japanese companies for most of the last nine years, so this is real life for me.

Would anyone view it as anything noteworthy if it appeared on a resume? It sounds like the antithesis of what I'm about...

Yup. Clearly. Because that's exactly how it's been described and lauded by everyone and my stance on a particular aspect of it wasn't already made clear previously.

Knowledge of what of you are criticizing is key.
You lacked it; it was provided.

Organization is not my strong suit. I’ve had to be in scramble mode for so long that I’m kind of broken that way.

So I actually appreciate my agile coach/scrum master/whatever they’re called. She does the stuff I hate doing and she doesn’t let me get away with anything. I need her specific brand of butt kicking.

Re including squidgy HR stuff on your CV

It depends on the company and what you know of their culture. I'm a believer that you tailor your resume for each opportunity: if the company seems into that, play it up.

Might want to check out old school research (March, Simon, Cyert - all at CMU) on organizational behavior and theories of firms. It’s served me well over the years.

Best viewed as being helpful for how organizations function - and (tacitly) how to thrive in them.

If lean six sigma or lean manufacturing is done right, it can be useful. I saved a company I used to work tens of thousands by streamlining their shipping process.

as an accomplished lean six sigma master black belt, those that think it is dumb either had poor leadership support or poor execution. there are very few situations where the methodologies are not beneficial

I was offered this when I was a gov contractor, I think it was a two day course.

But, contractor wouldn't pay my time while I was there, so, nope.

Two days for green belt status? So, in actual time, that's like 35 minutes.
