People must really think the world will end with 2 days off of work.
Most likely result: I forget everything you told me in the meetings when I come back and nothing gets accomplished.

Just got told we could leave at 3. Half hour earlier than I normally leave. They bought us pizza for lunch too. I'll take it.

As the Talent Acquisition Manager at my organization, I created an Employee Referral Program at the start of last year. Of course, if a hiring manager refers someone that they will actually be hiring, that referral would not be eligible for a referral bonus. This is a commonsense policy to prevent bias/conflict of interest.
I have a hiring manager that had five candidates sent to her for an open position, and decided to extend an offer to a candidate that she knows previously. She is trying to make the argument that she should receive a referral bonus for this candidate being hired. My mind is actually tearing apart at how someone can even think this is a worthwhile pursuit.

Just highlight the section in the supporting documentation and send it to her in the body of an email with no other text. Move on with your day

Are the terms "white collar" and "blue collar" acceptable anymore? Just got an email from the VP of HR using those exact terms to describe certain employees. Seems a bit...old school at best?
Also just got word we're moving to a "Permissive Time Off" vacation policy next year. We're having a kid next year so I'm thinking of going rogue and taking 2 weeks.

A paternal leave policy of taking 2 weeks any time within a year of your child's birth was just adopted last August. It's pretty sweet.

Is it a policy that just states you can use 2 weeks of your own vacation time for paternity leave, or something outside of using your own time? If the former, that's how my last two employers handled it.

Our policy here is it's two weeks (it may be 3 actually now) that you can use and it does not count towards your vacation time. It's totally separate.

Our policy is PARENTAL leave is 2 weeks. That means even maternity leave is only 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks, you have to use your sick time, then vacation time, then excused leave without pay. It's ****. Our CEO actually said to a pregnant employee that coming back to work after only a few weeks "builds character." He said his wife was fine a few weeks after giving birth to his kid. That poor woman.
