I get the day off now anyway, but getting paid to not work is superior to getting paid to do actual work.

Doing work the day after a turkey coma is no fun I'd rather just be lazy and lay around. We get it off anyways here so I don't have to burn a day, but I'd not hestitate using a vacation day if I had to.

I have off form Dec 22nd thru Jan 1st coming up... I think like VLB said earlier... I'm using maybe 4 actual days of time to get 11 off.

Black Friday is a holiday here or else I would probably work it. My preference is to always take days off where the office is crowded and sht is busy. Days where I can work 9-3 and take a two hour nap in my car? Sure, I'll come in.

I join a Skype call within a minute of it's scheduled start time and the dude running the meeting is already in mid sentence explaining the agenda. Then he says he will give it a minute or two for more people to join. Literally 15 seconds later he bombs into it, still with people jumping in. What a doofus.

The phenomenon where 80% of your work-related stress is caused by 20% of your total workload is real, and it's annoying. There is one particular internal client that is completely dysfunctional, cannot retain staff, and are shtty at managing their people. I've handled their open requisitions repeatedly, and they keep losing people a month or two into the job. And you're saying it's MY problem that the requisition is open again?

Funny, the most stress I've ever felt from a job was related to roughly 0% of the actual work.

I've had a banner 24 hours for work related shenanigans and tomfoolery.

First off, our school's eSports team uses our building for their gaming arena. So, we have 11 dudes and one girl in here all weekend (and overnight) playing video games against other colleges. They've done very well (routinely beating Division 1 teams), but they are interesting group of kids to say the least.

We had one kid sleeping in here, because his side gig is to coach a German Overwatch team...so he's on GMT or some such. The campus security guards freaked out when they found him sleeping in a chair at 4 AM (long before we're opened to the public). Next, they are slobs (not a shock)...and they steal food out of the breakroom fridge. Especially my sparkling spring water, which is a pain in the ass to get (as we don't have a Trader Joe's nearby).

So, one of my staffers comes in and finds in an open office, used for our work-study students, an empty condom wrapper and lube (Equate brand - who knew Walmart made lube?

) on the floor. That was an interesting discussion with the coach - who actually is a recent Penn State grad.

This on the heels of a student accusing one of my staff members of bullying her, which turned out to be fake news. The student was removed from her work study job because she sucked and was late, and tried to get her former supervisor fired. Ugggghhh.
