Our VIPs are managers, their admins (because they are submitting tickets for said manager), and our VP. We have about 100-110 in our office, so there's not a whole lot of room to stretch VIP status. To be honest, nobody has really made an issue of it because...Our system has a "VIP" tag used for ticketing items. I've seen that thing stretched pretty far.
I've been in this role for 2.5 years and I still get people saying "I don't know how to submit a ticket." I know I've walked certain people through multiple times, but I literally have the link to our ticketing system in my Skype status and my Out Of Office. People will walk right in my office while I'm on a call with a user or with external support. It only requires 2 seconds to say "please submit a ticket".
