It's pretty crazy how expensive work travel can be. For this conference, I am staying at a really nice hotel right on Times Square...their "special" rate is $399/night.

That's not really out of the ordinary for Times Square, IMO.

Day 22 of employment at new job. Finally got access to most things and was assigned my first project. Computer proceeds to crash and display the message "HARD DRIVE - NOT INSTALLED". Help Desk proceeds to tell me that the only timeframe for solution is that it needs to be solved within 2 business days.
I love this job.

Over the weekend I passed a vendor certification exam. I'm pretty proud of it as its for a security tool I never used up until a few months ago and I taught it myself and studied for the exam and it wasn't the easiest (IMO). I got the link from the digital certificate provider and decide to share it on my LinkedIn profile. I rarely to never post stuff on my profile. I mainly browse on there two or three times a week. I posted it on my profile Sunday night and as of now it has close to 100 impressions but no 'Likes' or comments. But I'm sure if I posted about a flower I saw on my run the other day and how it inspired me to become a better leader I would have better engagement. lol..screw LinkedIn. Whatever.

Couple things I have questions about that yinz guys might be able to answer. First, the new place has contacted me about the offer and the controller let me know about what I would need on my first day paperwork. They never mentioned any type of pre-employment drug screening. It seems a bit odd they wouldn't have me provide a sample, so I responded to the controller about this. Second, at my current place each employee is given 10 vacation days per year, I have only used 3, would it be poor taste to try to negotiate them to pay some/all of the remaining 7? If it is a time accrued deal, I feel like I should be given 4.5 days since I worked 9 out of 12 months.

Never mind on the vacation time. The handbook says all vacation time is forfeited unless required by law. Boo.Couple things I have questions about that yinz guys might be able to answer. Should have asked to give 3 weeks notice. Take all your time off, come back and put in notice, lol.

I still have no admin rights in our dev domain, so I haven't been able to do any of the work there since I started a few weeks ago. I feel useless, but there's not much I can do about this...Day 22 of employment at new job. Finally got access to most things and was assigned my first project. Started the transition of responsibilities for work and it's been a challenge. People really have no boundaries.
We also are unlikely to hit our revenue target this year and the blame game/toxic atmosphere has started to take hold in full force. A lot directed at me, because obviously sales team can never have done anything wrong. I'm happy I'll be out for when this all comes to a head.
