Our new cafeteria service is really good. It's however a bit pricey. I'm happy to pay a little more for better quality though, but a burger and fries + 20oz pop for 11 bucks is a bit steep.

It's nice to know it's there. I never used the old service because the food was so so bad. But my new position usually finds me in 2 or more 12 o'clock meetings per week, and when I have a 1 o'clock immediately after, I'll go there for lunch.

I should just start packing a lunch.

depends on burger quality. anything that's casual restaurant quality, $11 for all that is reasonable. if it's a glorified Whopper? no.
personally, I wouldn't (and don't) spend $11 on lunch every day. I'm too cheap.

I’d wager a whopper meal is probably $11 maybe more.

Our campus has Sodexo, which has a $4 staff and faculty lunch deal. The salad bar alone is worth at least that.

Mac could be eating two whopper meals a day for lunch for that $11.

I had a chance to visit Uber's facilities for work related business. They were in the middle of a ping pong tournament, plus had a full cafeteria with breakfast, lunch, snacks - all paid.

Not bad for a business segment not making any money.

Hell, five guys you can get a bacon cheeseburger and fries with a drink for $13. No way any fast food place would be able to compete by offering their slop at $11.

Former employer of mine is more than likely packing up shop in 2020. :(

Didn't sound like they were being bought out since they mentioned finishing up current projects and not starting anything new.

$500 bonus. Not as grand as others here, but for the first Christmas bonus in 4 years I'll take it.

Two years ago, we got one equal to two weeks salary. Last year, the company made a donation in our name but also emphasized that it's important to be around family during the holidays so they gave us two paid weeks off. We're getting the same thing this year, which I'd rather have since I've been running non-stop for several weeks now and really need a break.

I'd rather have two paid weeks off than $500.

They pulled the plug on the kmart project. Someone else is developing it, I forget who.

It was actually longer than that, probably closer to 5-6, and they took a beating on that sale. They paid $12m for it in August 2013, placed the project on hold in July 2014. When they put it on hold, I believe the KMart was already leveled.

If I remember correctly, they sold really, really low on it just to unload it. I want to say they sold for $3m around 2015-16, but can't find any articles that mention them selling it.

Unexpected and last minute all department meeting called for today where our CEO will announce some "organizational changes."

That doesn't sound good.
