For most competent employees, I don’t even agree with it when your boss brings it up. Had it happen to me recently. No we don’t. You ain’t my boss

Oh joy, being at work the day before Thanksgiving. At my last job, where I was treated like an adult, I'd have been working at home today - instead of sitting here staring at my monitor for the sake of being seen. We were given a 3pm early dismissal (what's the point) but my favorite part is, they make you wait until the morning of to announce it - so you can't plan anything, etc. That's how you keep the inmates in line, I guess. I decided to just take PTO this afternoon. I gots too much **** to do for T-giving tomorrow to be sitting here doing jack nothing.

I'm working from my inlaws in NY today. Honestly, this flexibility I have with WFH I once a week is a huge factor in me not pursuing other positions. I only get 15 days of PTO but never feel compelled to use it unless I'm actually going away on vacation.

Yinz doing WFH, are you actually working or just when you get an email or call?

Yup. I try and get a lot of things done that don't require me meeting with or talking to others.I actually work and am probably more productive

Depends on what's going on at the time. Sometimes it's an easy day, sometimes it's nonstop work. On days like today at my old gig, it would be known you were just monitoring emails and being "available." Generally a reward for a job well done throughout the year - like, "you kick ass all year long - how about you just take it easy around the holidays without having to burn PTO."

A certain amount of my work is ticketed work order tasks (account validation, etc), I try to allocate that work to my WFH days as much as I can because it's straightforward and mundane but productive. My days in the office are filled with working in the SCIF and other tasks I can't do from home so whatever I can do to free up time on those days by allocating tasks to my WFH days is helpful.

Very much this. I want to ensure that WFH is never taken away, so I give them no reason to even think about it.I actually work and am probably more productive

I don't always work from home, but when I do, I make sure I adjust the idle time on Skype to 90 minutes of inactivity.

My manager took PTO today. Before we left for the day yesterday, he told me to be sure I'm out of here by 3 o'clock today.

I just turn on Do Not Disturb if I'm doing something that'll change my Skype status to inactive.

I'm on a WebEx now, and the dumb PM is browsing their personal email while presenting.

WebEx is a great way to identify the dumb people. For example, those people who don't mute their phones when they join.I'm on a WebEx now, and the dumb PM is browsing their personal email while presenting.

I like the people that mute the audience then want to field questions at the end and don't unmute everyone.
