Working with one of our vendors on an issue, and the object that this guy wants me to select in our admin console simply doesn't exist (in any of the three environments that I installed this app in). I sent him screenshots showing him my available options, and now he wants to setup a remote session to "look at the list". No, now escalate my ticket to level .5 support.

Honestly, it was so long ago it would've required one of those old timey cameras with a hood and the flash that actually explodes and sends smoke into the air.

Yes - and thank you. I appreciate it.You work in tax, right? My only advice is this: when I switched to a new firm, I was pretty overwhelmed by a lot of the work that way I seemed to be "stuck" with. A lot of it was a real challenge to untangle. But after the first year, the work itself was a lot easier after I got familiar with it. So hang in there.Ha! - indeed. Shy of 21 years at my last job. I know I really should give this place more time, but frankly I hate it right now and I'm not able to come up with ideas of how it's going to get any better any time soon. I guess I just need to suck it up until it becomes the new normal.

This is the first company I've worked for that is, in turn, owned by an investment firm. The president of our company, whom I work with on a daily basis, actually represents the investment firm. Things have been going quite well, I know I mentioned the promotion to manager a couple of months back.
He asked me if I could go ahead and present at the executive board meeting in a couple of weeks. Essentially, presenting on what I've been doing to attract talent to the organization and the success we've had (and a roadmap for the rest of this year) to all of the investors and other board members. After 12 years working, this is definitely a first. Holee sht I'm nervous. That said, I think he wants to get me in front of the board to potentially move to one of their other holdings down the road, from the way he talks to me about it. So that is obviously a good thing.

I have to present my work to executives at my company quite often. They are regular people, by and large. If you know your stuff (which it seems like you do) you will be fine.

Our CIO is a reasonable guy surrounded by tightly wound sycophants that gripe and nitpick everything. Not sure if he did this on purpose so he can play the good guy or if he is a real handful behind closed doors. Or maybe a mix of both.I have to present my work to executives at my company quite often. They are regular people, by and large. If you know your stuff (which it seems like you do) you will be fine.

Yeah, at a young age I made the determination that there are no "special" people...I hold no undue reverence for people that are "above" me...this became evident in college with professors and then it worked its way into real life...I feel like it has greatly helped me communicate and advance and whatever other positives I want apportion to this mindset...like meow said, they're just people...

In my findings, either those that report directly to executives have a difficult time setting expectations or the executives don’t care. I’m sure it is a healthy mix of both. Our CIO is a reasonable guy surrounded by tightly wound sycophants that gripe and nitpick everything. I have a phone screen interview today, and I am not in any way emotionally squared enough for it.

Was giving a presentation and forgot to mention one person who I'm close with. I feel awful and knew immediately when I was done presenting, that I forgot to say his name. He made a snarky comment before I could apologize and now I feel bad.

Is this a type of presentation that would make sense for you to send a follow-up email to the group. There is your redemption moment.
