Tape up an empty box and FedEx it back to the office, and let FedEx pay from the insurance when it winds up in a random embankment in the middle of ****.

Anyone else working this week? I use most of my leave in the summer for racing and golf. Anyone in FedGov that has been here longer than 14 years gets a full 8hrs of PTO accrual every pay period. With our carryover only being 240 hours that means most of the leadership is gone for the last three weeks of the year. I have no meetings on my schedule this week.

Self-paced annual training and admin work for me this week.

Getting caught up on admin work and working on projects uninterrupted. I don't mind working this week at all.

Nope, I've been off since Monday of last week. I don't go back until Tuesday the 4th. Starting to feel almost human with 7+ hours of sleep a night. It's nuts.

I was off Fri-Sun and woke up early each day with no alarm. This morning? Hit the snooze 5 times. Work sucks.

Firm shutdown week, but the project I am on right now is asking for availability, every hour that I work this week turns into PTO I will use later on. So I am working the shitty weather days (today and tomorrow for sure), then will go play golf on Wednesday and Friday.

It's also kind of a two birds one stone thing for me. Accruing PTO to use later on and boosting my billable hours so I get promoted in 2022.

I am completely disconnected and have been since Dec 17th. My slack notifications are silenced, my outlook has auto reply up...I needed this break.

Unless there is a super duper 5 alarm fire that is like the end of the world (which I can't think of anything that falls into that category) I'm not even thinking about work until next week.

This is the first time that I’ve taken pto around the holidays. Gotta say: it’s kinda nice. Just a solid couple weeks of no work, kid at daycare, wife working to get ready for next semester. Last week I renovated our powder room, this week I’ll clean the garage and cars.

The physical nature of it is a nice brain cleanser. Very refreshing.

I plan on spending the entire week drinking coffee and playing Halo.

So far this week I have gotten a total of 9 emails. All but one from the same three people regarding two matters (one of which can be summed up as 'Kevin Smith is a numpty, what do we do about it').

I am off this whole week, usually work this week because I can 1/4 ass it and catch up on some things. Plus get out of the BS family stuff I don't wanna go to. I didn't use enough PTO earlier this year and had to burn it.

We had some additional work place violence models to complete before the end of the year since the number of insane people in our hospitals is through the roof. Disappointed to see my desired response for an active shooter is not available yet again. “Seek defilade. Return fire. Displace.” is the only appropriate response.

Same. I just opened Outlook, saw the unread e-mail, and closed it. Too early for that ****.

I'm just about to do the same. Gonna try and have a more positive/less cynical approach this year but damn it's already difficult lol.

My wife is headed off to work right now...lol

Speaking of which, she got her "intent to teach" in her current school letter yesterday (actually email). This is about two months earlier than most years. She of course isn't teaching here next year. Looks like her current district is trying to get a jump on neighboring districts for advertising open positions. Any of the other teachers here get similar letters from their districts this early?
