based on the folks we share our building with, I see why we need one. What a cluster****. You would think the instructions are simple: no elevators, take the steps to the bottom floor, exit in an orderly fashion.
I won't go into specifics, but I'll just say every one of those three basic rules were broken by those on the floor above us.

I saw a social media post about using the elevator instead of the stairs. My first thought was to explain the issues with using an elevator, then I remembered Darwin's work needs more proof.

If you're an adult and don't know that you shouldn't use an elevator while the building burns, well... enjoy your Darwin Award.

If it were one or two people, I would have chalked it up to being caught in the middle of the drill. But it was a group of at least six, with one of them saying "pffft, I ain't walking down from 6. that's stupid."
It's not gonna hurt to walk down five flights of stairs once every six months, I promise. They wouldn't even have to walk up once the drill was over.

Think of it this way, if there is ever a fire, you get 6 new coworkers.

We wouldn't get any new folks.
We lease our floor, but the rest of the building belongs to another company.

I love requesting brand new server builds one week before end user testing because the SQL DBA decided that he doesn't want to mix encrypted and non-encrypted databases on the same availability group. At first, he told me that adding an encrypted DB wasn't possible in an AG, but it took all of five minutes to prove that wrong, so now I'm wondering how well this **** guy even knows SQL.

There are openings for litigation and corporate paralegals at my firm, in case a certain California-based paralegal wants a job and venue change. Or in case his house burns down.

Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts, Shyster. It's what has sustained me in my time of trouble.

Since I work in talent acquisition, I usually close my door when I am on candidate screens, especially because the whole office doesn't need to hear me discussing salary. The president of our company, if he wants to see me about something, CONSTANTLY just swings open the door. Today, I am talking to a high-level candidate for a director position, and I see him come in and then I see him standing there in the corner of my eye waiting for me to get done. Like, what in the ****?

Well, I have the in person interview Thursday. Honestly just want to feel this out and see what they're like as a company. What are some must ask questions? I haven't interviewed externally in years.

Well, based on my recent experience at this gong show:
Nail down exactly what the job entails. Don't let them bait & switch you.
If you're interviewing with potential coworkers - ask them if they think about their job when they get home and how much.
If your supervisor sees himself there in 5 years.
Culture of the department. How long everyone has been there. If you've got people at the top that have been there a long time, but the people at the bottom haven't, that's a flag.

As a marketing professional since 1992, I would throw that resume in the trash.

I'd file 13 that thing.
There's not even a reasonable answer from google for what that is.

Have my 2nd interview for a position coming up. Couldn’t happen at a better time. I’m in a pretty toxic work environment right now and could use stability and a change of scenery.

Our current Director of Marketing just laughed...there are a lot of marketing folks that are great at bullshtting up their resume to look like they have literally done everything in their profession.

Is it very frustrating for you that you can't **** can the resume and drop them a note telling them how ineffective they're being? I know why you can't but my guess is there are times you'd like to.

There are definitely times that I would like to do that. That said, when there are opportunities for me to help someone out in their career search without opening our company up to litigation, I try and do that. For example, if someone's resume is jacked up and I know they've been using it to apply elsewhere. I guess I have a soft spot.Is it very frustrating for you that you can't **** can the resume and drop them a note telling them how ineffective they're being?
