Job and General Employment Thread

Postby MR25 » Fri Feb 08, 2019 12:59 pm

Still havent heard anything back from the job I interviewed for in December. I sent a follow-up email a couple of weeks ago just to see where the process was and have yet to get a response.

I know the government shutdown was affecting the E-verify stuff, but it shouldn't have taken this long to get that done, right?

**** is stressing me out. I'm getting more and more fed up with my current job (honestly tired of constantly dealing with some of these people and I don't get paid enough for the amount of work they're having me do) and need to know if I need to start shotgunning apps out.

I can't answer the e-Verify question, but if you're that fed up with your current job, I'd be sending out my resume elsewhere in the time being.

I was approached by a search firm about a high-level opportunity with Penn Highlands Health System in Dubois. My wife and I are really not in a position where moving would make any sense, as we both have great jobs and her benefits are the best in the business (four months paid maternity leave, lol). But man, I would love to live in that part of that state (ANF).

If someone offered me a job in West Virginia I'd have the moving company on the line before I hung up.

But...I'd be dead by the time I set the phone down as my wife would murder me.

Dubois? Nothing but Shawn Lesky and a Sheetz up there... and a girl I used to date.

Yeah, it would never happen. I think sometimes I romanticize living up in the sticks, and the thought of having a director-level and above position for a good-sized healthcare system was intriguing. But yeah...not interested, maybe in an alternate reality.

It never fails. Our HR Director sent out an email to the whole organization last week with new benefit plan documents. This afternoon, an older woman that works in one of our offices responds to the entire company asking about the status of her additional life insurance request for her husband

That is exactly why whenever I send out emails to a lot of people, I always put all the distribution lists in the BCC field.

It's a good day in the office when you can type the sentence, "Apply a light film of lubricant around the rim".

Companies have been using email for more than 25 years, and how people still hit reply all is crazy.

Why would anyone send out an email to a large group of people and NOT use BCC though?

Well, the email was sent out to two distribution lists, so it wasn't like you had 100 names in there. But yes, I agree--by not doing BCC, you are trusting the intelligence of the average dummy in an office.

Bulk e-mails to BCCs annoy me because they get through my Gmail tag filter.

This. We don’t send broadcast email to any DLs not in the BCC field.
