That's weird...no, I've definitely never heard of that being a thing. Maybe the shadiest of the shady staffing companies, but even then..

the term 'slide deck' drives me bananas
Job and General Employment Thread
For some reason, me too. A ppt deck is comprised of a series of slides, so it's an accurate term. But the phrase drives me a little batty.

My irritation isn’t with the term itself, but rather that the person using the term uses it in every sentence they speak for 5+ minutes.

I always thought this was a military thing. Command center heroes (like myself) trying to sound tactical between sessions of Farmville.

I can't recall ever hearing that phrase, so it's certainly not common for IT in my area.

imo the term powerponit "deck" probably dates back to the times when slide shows were done on an old school projector with actual pictures as slides.
and I hate that term

I remember because we had this infantry Lieutenant that checked into be a Ground Watch Officer. He had been in the field most of his deployment and then got to do a rotation in the command center. When he settled in and checked his bank accounts he found out his wife had been spending hundreds of dollars weekly on Farmville. He was unimpressed.

In my experience, the use of 'deck' to describe a ppt is pretty commonplace among marketing types. The outmoded terminology is 'preso'.

I've definitely heard "slide deck" quite a few times, but most of the time its just referred to as the "presentation". shrug emote.
Job and General Employment Thread
A deck is a collection of slides, so the slide component is innate. Calling it a slide deck is redundant in the same way as saying 'ATM machine'.

Actually, the better comparison would be "added bonus", or "false pretense", since it's not acronym-related.
