Yep, second person now in the group that does not have a command of the English language. I work in a field that is fairly technical - so it's a problem. Management doesn't see it that way though...they're clearly just meeting hiring quotas.

I think this gentleman requires a separate thread that is updated on a daily basis.
Yeah, even light of the non-English speaking thing...

Is this person Indian...?

So...new guy started today. He is of the certain ethnic demographic that management is all hot & heavy to hire.

One of his questions today was "What's an exclamation point?" Ooookay.

At lunch we went to Burgatory. He did the make your own burger. Thought he ordered a burger on a bun. He actually ordered a crab cake on lettuce.

This is gonna end well. :face:

New guy update: at the end of business yesterday, it was decided that he would move from the domestic side to the international side. Has nothing to do with his being foreign. Actually pissed a lot of the domestic side off, as international is a plum gig, in that it's hard to find people with this experience, so to gain it, it's big time resume-building. Interestingly, the manager has been known to favor the gents, and the first one that comes to the department gets moved to a better opportunity in less than 8 hours. He barely has any domestic experience - and no international experience.

Will be interesting to watch how this plays out.

My wife's boss scheduled a same-day travel/afternoon meeting that she needed to attend today, all in an effort to save money and not have to book hotel/cars. She got up at 3:30 AM to get a flight at 6 AM. Only to have the pilot sleep-in, and cause her to miss her connecting flight. She's likely not making the meeting today.

There's nothing saved there now that wasn't worth just traveling the day before to be prepared for today.

I can't imagine the type of person necessary to enjoy doing auditing for a living. I just had to participate in an audit from one of our biggest customers, and my god... anal doesn't even begin to describe them (giggity).

Did it for 5 years at a Big 4 firm. I was not a fan, but it got me the experience I needed to get into the company I've been with for the last 11.

Depending on how long you were gone, that may not be too bad. My wife had a raffle for a souvenir from our vacation, and the closest guess to her e-mail count won it. It was in the upper 500's for a 10-day vacation.

I was gone all of last week... Came in Monday morning to 1059. By lunch I had about half of them knocked out, but more came in. Literally took an entire day just to catch up on e-mails.

My wife, missed her connection, they were told to not find a connection and come home. Now the flight they were supposed to come home on, got delayed because of storms in New York/New Jersey. I feel for her, that has to suck for being almost six months pregnant.
