It probably was mis-scanned and reshelved, and then the overdue notice went out. That happens to us all the time.
We put account blocks or holds on students that have these fines/lost items: they can't walk at commencement, get transcripts, register for classes, or transfer out without paying the fines. I bet if you tried to get a transcript now, you'd have to pay that fine.

Heh, I had a long, long battle with Rutgers...we were at an impasse for years (not regarding this library thing, but other financials)...I refused to pay for something until I understood the ramifications, they refused to provide the ramifications until I paid for something. We would talk once every couple years to see if our positions had changed and they largely didn't.
My company said they would back me regardless of the result, so I went in to the next conversation with more financial confidence. They made a concession, I agreed to some things and at the end of the day I got everything I wanted. They get $75 a month from me and we've called it even. Somewhere in there, I'm sure I wiped the library thing as "frivolous and unsubstantiated" and I used that combined term pretty often with them over the past decade...we're good now though haha

I had a similar dispute with Penn State that ultimately led to tax refund garnishments and the complete erasure of my transcript. Penn State's parking crew issued one of my buddies a ticket for the being on a line in a parking lot. He walked around and took pictures of all the other cars in the lot that were much further over the line than him and went in to dispute the ticket. They told him that they would not consider any discussions until after he paid the fine. Once he paid the fine he was permitted to meet with people to dispute it. Seems both smart and frustrating at the same time.

I got a huge monkey off of my back that I've been working for months. Constant obstacles and interruptions but the mission has been achieved. YUGE.
I'm also about 2 hours of effort away from turning in my last school assignment for the semester so, yeah, feels good man.

I feel like I've been just coasting on autopilot at work since little c2i was born. By the time 2 o'clock rolls around, I'm pretty much just trying not to fall asleep.

I'll take it.
I love not going to school. I might not go back, just texted my wife that this is the best I've felt since, uh, probably Jan 6th when I started spring semester.
WFH today, going to mow my lawn on lunch if I can beat the rain. Feeeeeeels goooooood.

This is my last week working on remote rotation. With my new position I will be in office all the time. I will miss working from home, though I know I will be able to if I need to from time to time, but being on steady daylight will be worth it I think in the end. The extra $$$$$ thrown my way didn't hurt either.

It went well...fairly intense, I was in there for about 30 minutes. I got grilled but was able to hold my own in there. Thankfully, the president of the company was backing me up and came into my office afterwards to tell me "great job". Happy it's over, having some wine now

Have an initial phone screen scheduled for next week with a company that would represent a departure from my career track to date, altho still in the wonderful world of entertainment. And the company is in a field in which I have a lot of personal interest, so that's neat.
