Got a distribution list email from our CEO this morning reminding employees at my officer level and above that we are strongly encouraged to contribute to the company's government lobbying PAC. How about **** you very much.

lol that's stupid. The business should be running/donating itself.

I think I mentioned here, years ago, my previous employer did that. Our then president admonished the entire faculty and staff during a back-to-school all hands meeting about our low levels of giving. The vast majority of us, paid below regional averages anyway, hadn't had as much as a cost of living raise in years. In fact, the president and the endlessly reshuffled VP and Deans were the only ones who got raises. "We only have 3 [Elite] tier donors among our faculty and staff," which was $5000 a year or something. So absurd.Got a distribution list email from our CEO this morning reminding employees at my officer level and above that we are strongly encouraged to contribute to the company's government lobbying PAC. Driving to the office for a presentation today...then driving back. This is annoying. Stopped at Panera to grab lunch...16$....wtf.

Hah. My wife loves to get a shamrock shake every year. So we stopped on Saturday night. Medium quarter pounder meal w/shake, medium 10-nugget meal with shake. $24.

I even got guilt tripped into tipping 2$ on the kiosk. I didn't even have human interaction lol.

I always tip on those kiosks, I feel bad if I don't, and then realize no human talked to me.I even got guilt tripped into tipping 2$ on the kiosk. I didn't even have human interaction lol.

I spent the last two weeks in Philly...first of all, it's really on the slide. It seems like you could get AIDS at any moment between 6th & Market to Broad & Market. What a total dump it turned into.
There's only a few places that are even open anymore, but it's completely random whether or not they "updated" their prices. I was working over a fruit smoothie place (real fruit) for $3.75 20 oz smoothies. Found myself into some $8 long roll sandwiches. But then also got dinged for chicken sandwich/curly fries combo coming to $18 or some such...
At least in NYC, I know I'm gonna get my shirt pulled over my head and fed a couple of upper cuts when I go out to eat...Philly is just like walking credit card roulette haha

Yeah, but like when Old City got updated...I thought it would drag up the CTA (Concentrated Tourist Area) because they tried to book end it by removing that rat house that was Burlington Coat Factory at 10th. They created this Fashion District - basically just like a mall - about 10 years after malls were just holding on for dear life...so, that thing is a ghost town...Old City has lost whatever glimmer it had 3-5 years ago...and now the streets are just covered in trash, both actual trash and human trash...needles on the streets, straight up zombies walking around in daylight...
I took the El from 8th to 30th St. at 5 pm. I had multiple bums, horizontally walk right into my personal space...like, sure, at 11 pm - that'll happen...but for me, that didn't normally happen at rush hour times. Just a complete mess...just didn't feel good walking around. They gassed the Popeye's and the Burger King that was in that area (where there used to be fights outside for people waiting in line), but you got Ross Dress for Less, a Five Below, maybe the most disgusting Dunkin Donuts on the planet, all at the same intersection...take that intersection and dump it into the Ohio River...it stinks...

Fashion District was always a complete joke, IMO, despite whatever spin people tried to put on it. They tried to attract upper class clientele, but forgot that those types of people don't want to walk through puddles of piss to get there.

Yeah, there's just no appeal...there's no angle. It's just like "hey, made a mall in 2020...come on in..................hello? Anyone?" There's nothing even "Philly" about it...it just has no imagination. I'd argue that it's second biggest fashion district in a 10 block area (West Center City...Chestnut St in the upper teens...if that still exists)...

I like mikey's idea. Philly is so bad it must be uprooted and transported 300 miles across the Commonwealth for disposal.

Unless..................................... goddamnit, is there another Ohio River?
