My experience has been that directors love sprints/agile because it makes them feel like they're actually doing something while the grunts hate it because it takes time away from actually doing something.

We had agile training last year. It was awful, and a complete waste of time. Fast forward 3+ months and we have not heard a peep more about it. No meetings (supposed to be a bi-weekly meeting), no communications, nothing.

Tomorrow is the end of our current "sprint" (well friday is I guess technically). There are checkpoints throughout the day for all the teams, and also a demo where each team makes a video to show what they have been working on that no one ever pays attention to because its shown in the "open spaces" area where you can't hear anything at all, and people are going in and out. It's basically show a video.. people clap... show another.. people clap. It's really pointless and makes tomorrow a lost day to actually do work. Our team is remote tomorrow so it actually works out better that we can just go into the MS teams meeting and hang there and actually get work done rather than be subjected to the normal crap.

Someone at my place of employment had a heart attack, I don't believe he made it.
He gone. Died at work. Ouch.

Our audit team consists of a partner, manager (ulf) and 2 full time staff and two others that float between tax and audit so let's say 60% of the time they're available to help me. We picked up a 200ish hour job due 3/31 and another 150 hour job in that same timeframe. The best one under me that is full time audit is pregnant and due in two weeks. This is bad

I have to drive to a lunch presentation at Mount Sinai Hospital on the Upper East Side this Thursday. Then I'm going back up for a similar presentation in the Bronx in early February. At this stage in my personal life, I dread any work travel.

Anyone off tomorrow for MLK day? We didn't have it off until a few years ago after we were acquired and that first year I forgot about it and worked that day. Doh!

I'm working, but leave for vacation on Weds. My direct report is a young go-getter who doesn't know the fine art of coasting before a vacation/holiday and will continue to be up my tree about work and status of projects, etc. Sigh.

Government worker in Georgia so we’ve been having this holiday off for a looong time.
Our next holiday is April 27th. It used to be Confederate Memorial Day but now it’s State Holiday #1
