Same here. I'll eventually just make one myself.

His must have just been a company green belt. Through ASQ, one has to take an exam to be officially certified. The exam is like 4 hours. I’ve gone through the certification process for both green and black. Two days for green belt status? So, in actual time, that's like 35 minutes.

Welp, as if my ranting about SF wasn't bad enough, I got let go yesterday. Writing was on the wall for months; it was very much a square peg/round hole situation, and I knew probably two months in it wasn't a good fit. Coupled with the fact that I never really found my feet with the supervising attorney, and had no relationship whatsoever with my manager, it's honestly more of a relief than anything.
Since last summer, I think outside of my weekly 1:1 I exchanged words with my boss maybe three times. It was like I was on an island; eventually, I just started putting earbuds in and listening to TV all day, because I got tired of watching her leave her office, walk past me without a word or glance, and ask the other paralegals on the team if they wanted to grab lunch. Looking at it dispassionately, the most alarming aspect of the experience was that inability to connect with management. I've never been that guy before, and I honestly had no idea how respond. That's my inability, and I own that. But what's neat is that attorney just left the company two weeks ago to go to EA, and apparently one of the last things she did on her last day was to formally recommend my termination to HR. There's a lot more to the tale, of course, but there you go.
This was the first job I've ever had where I brought office stress home. It was affecting my ability to sleep, I'm pretty sure I've developed an ulcer, weekends became an exercise in clock watching, and I could feel a physical change in my body every morning when I got to the point of my commute where I could see the campus. And I'm sure this experience informed a very large chunk of my dodinting about how miserable I am the other day.
That said, I have nothing but good things to say about the organization. My issues were highly acute.
So, sorry dodint - no MLB The Show this year.
Anyway, off to LinkedIn Premium again.

Ironically, going back to my first job hunt here there was a casual game developer in the city looking for a Paralegal. I progressed through the phone interview, but scheduling the in-person got hung up as the attorney suffered some sort of family emergency and had to actually leave the country. Eventually, the Sony thing happened, and that was that. But now, that developer is again seeking a Paralegal. So after I had a very relaxing drive home yesterday by going ten miles out of my way to go up the coast, I had my resume in to them by 4pm.

Sorry to hear this tif, particularly the fact that she decided to blow you up on the way out the door. Supremely lame. Best of luck, and while no comfort I am sure, it sounds like this is for the best long term. Seemed toxic for you life and health to stay much longer.

Damn, sorry Tif. Long-term no doubt this will be better for you though. If you'd like any resume/job search advice or have any questions, let me know.

It's never easy to get let go from a job but at least this seems better for you. That's a real grade A jerk move to say I'm leaving but you should fire this dude. Taking home stress from work is the worst and you'll be much better off without it. Hope the application you dropped off provides better results tif.

Sounds like it will be better in the medium- and long-run, tif. Though it always sucks to get the boot when it's not on your terms. Use it as a springboard to leave the area, perhaps?
What's the short-term plan? I imagine you run a circuit of husslin' local quizzos and trivia nights and then work your way up to Jeopardy...?

I feel like my lazy ass has only been in jobs where the threat of being let go or fired doesn't exist.

I'll give it a week or two, and if nothing materializes then it'll be off to the staffing agencies. What's the short-term plan? I imagine you run a circuit of husslin' local quizzos and trivia nights and then work your way up to Jeopardy...?
