Ya boy meow has been promoted up the corporate ladder with more speed and vigor than your average bear. I’ve done that by being equal parts human and machine. But dudes like this - obviously treating me like a machine - get zero respect from me. I’ll decline your meetings from today until the day I die.

This is an interesting piece of information. A job candidate that doesn’t give a ****. How will he interview. Report back
I just hate the interview process lol

Well I feel like I did fine on the interview. About 5 questions. I aced 3 of them, did decent on one and terribly on another. They shoved the behavioral sht down my throat in interview prep material and not one question that followed that, but whatever.

At the end I asked about challenges in the role and would any be exacerbated by being remote. He asked if remote is "a preference or a hard requirement". It's a requirement, but I just entertained it and said preference I guess. Why advertise for a remote opportunity if it's not remote?

It feels like they're searching for someone a lot more technical than me, but I can hold my weight in technical discussions at least.

You’re a lot nicer than I would have been with that remote question. I would have responded with some like “You advertised it as remote. Did you just waste everyone’s time here because this is a hybrid position? I’m not interested in that”

Even though I would be interested, but it sounds like they were purposely misleading in the posting.

Meh, that's not me. Because while I dont think I'm a great fit for this position out of the box at least, they had several others they may want me at that could be remote. It's annoying yes, but I didn't waste a TON of time..

You gotta value your time more, mac. When someone wastes your time, you tell them they wasted it

Also imagine all the other **** they're going to lie to you about if you take that job. They're already lying to you in the damn interview.

Right, they lied about remote status, when they offer me the rate, I just lie about what it would cost to hire me and it's now suddenly more. So be it.

Agreed with the above. If they're baiting and switching their job using the posting, that's a huge red flag.

Regardless I'm supposed to have a panel of 5-6 more folks in the coming weeks, but it's yet to be scheduled. So maybe they'll just wipe me off the roster.

mac, I'm going to laugh my ass off if you manage to Office Space yourself into doubling your salary on a job you don't seem to care about.

I'm with you on that - under no circumstance will I accept another position that isn't 100% remote.

With a caveat, though. 100% for routine work. But I'd prefer to work for an employer that offers an opportunity to attend occasional travel opportunities and team events. My employer found out how much money they can save by eliminating non-mission travel and now I haven't left my home office in over a year.

I was looking at an interesting opportunity to teach cybersecurity to court personnel. Most of the time would be working from home developing curriculum, and a few times a year the team goes on-site and delivers presentations. Seems really interesting.

Those would be optional events, no? We still have stuff like that, but none of it is mandatory for anyone. That's fine by me.

Welp, I was just asked for my availability for the interview I've been waiting for, so my nerves are going to be shot until then. Asked for the slot on Friday to get it over with quickly.

Good luck NTP, sounds like you really have nothing to worry about. Either the position is wide open for the taking or something out of your control will keep the door closed.

Thank you, thank you. Now I get to spend a few hours each day reviewing previous training and exam material, the new job will include stuff I don't routinely work on (but can get back into the swing of it with ease).

My last job interview the interviewer spent more time asking me questions about engineering processes than he did actual engineering. To me that was an easy way to nope out of the job as it seemed they were more intent on whether they filed the right paperwork instead of, you know, doing the job.

The client is having us travel for our project next month a bunch, so will be spending most of September in Charlotte. It feels mostly just like a hassle.

I accidentally let it slip that I was interviewing for a position elsewhere to two guys I work closely with. I have no worries about them not telling anyone, but I somehow feel even more guilty now. Need to get tomorrow's interview over with quickly so that I can focus on something else.

I asked for the hiring managers email, and was told to send my thank you to the recruiter (who I asked) and she would forward it.

Okay, I guess. I mean I gave you every piece of contact information I have on myself, but sure. I'll harass your hiring manager.

I'm over this whole process.
