I definitely have gotten a lot of value from LinkedIn--I would not be in my current role if it wasn't for being headhunted on there (and my last job came the same way).

I have connected and had productive conversations with people who have similar backgrounds in one way or another. A few of which have actually led to something. I found one of my best employees that way, found a good specialized software vendor that way, and landed a customer that way

LMAO that's what actually spurred my discussion. This dude crying and all the people getting political in the chat. The second post - was a person saying America is under attack. Just back to back nonsense.

I love rejecting morons I don’t know on LinkedIn that obviously only add me because of my title/experience/employer/whatever
Isn't that kind of the point of LinkedIn...
Adding random people? I don’t think so

Working from home today, as I have a good bit of computer work and a couple calls that I need to be on. 100% forgot about a planned power outage from 10 to 11... All I've got is my phone and a call coming up at 11. Hopefully power comes back on before then. If not, from my phone it'll have to be.

meh, I've found that most of the time I'm just multi-tasking on calls anyways. A phone gets the job done.

Company is easing off the 3 days a week in office requirement. Apparently they did an informal survey of all departments and the response to the 3-day mandate was overwhelmingly negative. Duh. The executive team decided that since our turnover rate in the last 2 years is 194%(!!) it's best to just keep status quo for now. I don't know why they needed a survey to realize that nobody wants to be in the office at all let alone 3 days a week.

Another manager is pissed that our work event today is scheduled for a long lunch and has alcohol. Expected people to go back to work after and they should "prioritize work over alcohol". And is mad the admin assistant scheduled a work event during working hours.

It's a Friday... In the summer... And company is paying for alcohol. Let people have fun and a day off, my goodness.

Anyway, my team was all told to go home and enjoy the weekend.

I'm about to have an open position on my team. Speaking with a recruiter today, they're recommending to make the position fully remote to interest the top of the field recruits.

lol the person that is upset can go eat turds. That's an instant end the day move when a work event is involved.

That's an issue with our team too. All of our new team members are fully remote, even though they live in town. So now we have people asking managers if they can be fired and rehired fully remote. When somebody does the same job as you and is on your same team but they get to be fully remote and you don't, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Just had my annual review, and my supervisor - a good friend of mine - spent the last 5-10 minutes thanking me for sticking through all of the nonsense that our team has had to endure over the last year or so, etc. I feel so guilty and awful right now.

Were you friends before working for them? Even still, just feeling like that shows you're way more loyal to them than they would be to you if you were deemed replaceable/redundant.
