this tweet annoys me. The tweet itself mentions a hiring freeze but the title of the article details layoffs
That's about 10k positions about to be eliminated.

Yeah, definitely a lazy tweet.

Ford is going to run into the same state laws that bar Tesla from selling cars in certain states. I want to say something like 10 states have "dealership protection" laws that ban car manufacturers from doing direct-to-consumer sales or directly owning dealerships or service centers. Ford could use its dealer network for service, but in those states it's not going to be able to do direct sales.Speaking of…

I’m sure dealers love this but here’s another example of the traditional OEMs competing with Tesla.

Sounds like Fetterman will be back:
https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/06/03 ... -electionsHis campaign offered few other details about his cardiac state in the days that followed, but doctors questioned the campaign’s characterization of the use of a defibrillator, noting that they are not typically used for atrial fibrillation, and are more often used for conditions like cardiomyopathy — a weakened heart muscle.
“Yesterday I talked to John about how, while afib was the cause of his stroke, he also has a condition called cardiomyopathy,” Ramesh R. Chandra, his doctor, wrote in a note. “The prognosis I can give for John’s heart is this: if he takes his medications, eats healthy, and exercises, he’ll be fine. If he does what I’ve told him, and I do believe that he is taking his recovery and his health very seriously this time, he should be able to campaign and serve in the U.S. Senate without a problem.”
Cardiomyopathy “is a disease of the heart muscle that makes it harder for the heart to pump blood to the rest of the body,” according to the Mayo Clinic. “Cardiomyopathy can lead to heart failure.”

"Please advise" does it for me.“Thanks in advance” as a closing statement in an email irks me.

First time I ever got a "please respond to this email so they I know you received it" I snorted and hit the archive button. SOP now.

I don’t use that. I use “See below” then highlight what the moron couldn’t read the first time.

Logged on this morning to find that one of my buddies had turned in his resignation. He’s very under appreciated, and severely underpaid. Sounds like he recently found out that there would be no open Principal position in my team’s bucket, so he had no room for growth. Now he’s going to work for my old boss, while getting paid considerably more.
In other news, he mentioned that he also spoke with another former boss of ours, and gave me a heads up that I’ll be getting a call in a few months to see if I’m ready to make a move. 5 minutes ago, a close friend of mine - who works for this other manager - texted me and said she needs to talk this week. So, perhaps I’m nearing the point where I make another move.

Got an invite for a 5-6pm interview on a Friday. Declined that invitation quickly. The person is on the west coast so I get that it's only 2pm there, but at least ask before scheduling something that late on the east coast, and on a Friday no less.

Listened to a team member yesterday telling me how he is annoyed at people who don't want to come into the office every day of the week. For context, I'm hybrid so I'm one of those people. What makes this very frustrating and a very eye-rolling situation... That person works entirely remotely. Sometimes remote from other locations/countries. So okay dude.

People who complain about where others choose to work can **** right off.

That's correct.
Although I'd love to know someone's beef with people not coming into the office every day when you are 100% remote to begin with.

We have our Q2 town hall today. Virtually of course. Someone puts in the chat how if we were in the office we would all quietly be chatting but on teams everyone is silent.
This leads to like 200 people saying good morning and hi in the teams chat... WTF people.

Speaking of Teams... if you're hosting a meeting in Teams, stop taking verbal attendance. Just look at the god damn participants list and move on already.

I agree. Small talk is annoying in general and awkward. I don't need to talk to the 500ish people on this call in any form or fashion.
