The Monkees new album.

I have always liked the Monkees music, grew up watching the show (ok, it was only on for 2 seasons).

Rivers Cuomo, Andy Partridge, Ben Gibbard and Noel Gallagher have written songs for the new album. The Rivers Cuomo song (She Makes Me Smile) is nice and poppy. The Andy Partridge song (She Brings the Summer) sounds like an XTC song (duh), and I love XTC.

But the best of the three (only 3 songs released so far) is "Me and Magdelena", which Ben Gibbbard wrote. He's perfectly captured the Mike Nesmith vibe on the song.

The 3 songs I mentioned are on YouTube now. The album comes out May 25th.

I'd post links, but I can't get to YouTube from work.

From the litter of of rescue, 4 kittens are headed to adoption. Boots, Milk Shake, Malty and Princess. ATHF may have a name mixed in there. If they do, you have a baby cat ready for pick up. PM me.

25 years ago, some chick walked down a boat aisle looking as beautiful as any woman could, held my hand, and put a band on my finger. What a night of partying that was. I think my tux is still hanging on a tree outside the hotel window. Like a book from a library, the charges are growing each day.

I appreciate the fact my rambling is here for infinity and beyond.

One should look around and appreciate this go round. The roses don't smell themselves. The sweet strawberry's have no clue about sweetness. Grapes don't turn to wine without purpose. True music is a gift. Go see a play in some theatre that you have never been. Road less traveled is a high point.

Enjoy some Big Jim's chillies from Hatch, NM. Nature's sweet candy with a kick.

Life. Yo.

Wedding cookies. Went to a wedding on Saturday, and they put out to-go containers at the cookie table.

I've only ever seen the cookie table at Pittsburgh area weddings. Is that a regional custom or have you seen it in other areas?

I believe it's a Pittsburgh area thing. Not sure though. It was my wife's idea as she went to a wedding once that had one and was really jazzed up about it, so she wanted it at our wedding as well.

Not sure if it's a 'burgh thing, but it was an automatic at our wedding. Went a little overboard, though.

My grandma had an upright freezer in her house that was there only to house cookies for weddings and family reunions. I'd go in and take one or two a week knowing she'd never notice them missing and/or wouldn't actually care. I miss that.

Cookie tables are legit. I prefer it because people have weird taste in their cakes (if they even serve cake, I've been to a few where only the parents/bridal party were given cake).

My Adidas Sambas.

Figured since I wore denim jeans to work today I might as well just wear my Sambas. They couldl be slippers, so comfortable.

We told our 3yr old that New Years is special because you get to toast to a new year. A few hours later she said "ARE WE GONNA MAKE TOAST NOW?!" And thus a New Years Day tradition was born

When you're on a conference call way...tooo....long and someone says "oh, hey, just one more thing" and an unknown person, unmuted, audibly sighs. So good.

Just rotated my neck around and it sounded like stepping on a sheet of bubble wrap. So good.
