Amanda Nunes too Cyborg to task. Nunes' punch accuracy is still her #1 asset. She obviously has a lot of power but her ability to consistently put that power on target is amazing. I didn't look up stats but her strikes landed % has to be one of the best in all of MMA, not just for women. She is something to watch.

After losing his first three bouts in the New Year's sumo tournament, the 72nd yokozuna Kisenosato has announced his retirement (called intai). If my math is right, his final record at yokozuna is 36-36-108, with two tournament wins. Kisenosato has owned the share in the Sumo Association that carries the Araiso name since 2009, so going forward he will be known as Araiso oyakata.

This exchange made me laugh out loud. Askren is a premier trash talker on Twitter, but "retired Nike factory workers" is an instant knockout.

The Askren wikipedia has been updated to reflect a record of 18-1 instead of 18-0 due to a loss to Lobov via "TKO -- twitter fingers" hahha

Been watching this stuff on Fox with my oldest son and it's been pretty fun trying to pretend that I know what I'm talking about. :)

Wrestling probably falls here more than any other thread... two of the best in PSU's wrestling history had their senior day today. Nolf's match was fun as his opponent got a reversal, gave Nolf the escape, mocked him, and promptly got pinned:

Nolf and Nickal are ridiculous. Pissing either of them off is not in your best interest. Glad they'll be gone after this year

My semi annual combat sport thoughts:

- I don't blame him but he should know better

- Ben Askren is my new favorite

- my cousin beat a UPS wrestler at B1G Championships and I was on the UPS campus to watch it

In honor of his death, here's four minutes of Sweet Pea Whitaker rarely getting hit despite continually standing toe to toe with his opponents.

For their first fight on June 1st, Anthony Joshua weighed in at 248 and Andy Ruiz was at 268, heavier than his usual mid-250s weight, but he took the fight on a month's notice, so whatever. Six months later Joshua took the upset to heart and trimmed down to 237 for the rematch whereas Ruiz apparently enjoyed his moment in the spotlight a little too much and tipped the scale at 283. He was wearing a sombrero for the weigh-in, but unless it was the Urban Sombrero I don't think it was adding 15 pounds.

Boring as ****, but he did what he needed to do. Was obviously terrified of Ruiz's power and decided to turn into Klitschko and jab his way to a victory.

Yup. I would be pissed if I paid money to watch that, but he did what was necessary to win.

Cheering for cowboy, but he doesn’t have a chance. Conner is going to demolish him in his big return.
