Idk I thought it was a decent fight and not a waste of money. Blew the Pacquiao fight out of the water

Yeah I think it gave all of us what we wanted. A glimmer of hope that someone was finally going to beat Money. An underdog with a chance, a Cinderella story. But in the end the best won a good fight.

Scorecards were 87-83, 89-92, 89-81 at the time of the stoppage. I had it 87-83. 89-81 is insane.

I'm shocked with today's culture, that Mayweather isn't constantly slammed for his domestic abuse and is still getting a paycheck.

Wow PayPal just confirmed my ufc.tv refund. Ended up finding a low res stream just in time to see the entrances. But this makes up for the three stressful hours of resetting my modem.

The Aki (autumn) Honbasho is now underway in Tokyo, and this might be the most wide-open tournament in years. Three of the four active yokozuna—Hakuhō, Kakuryū, and Kisenosato—withdrew with injuries before the tournament even started, and while yokozuna
Harumafuji is still present, he's been dealing with his own injuries. Ōzekis Goeido and Terunofuji both had losing records last tournament and must get at least eight wins this basho just to retain their ranks. (An ōzeki facing that situation is referred to as being kadoban, which translates to something along the lines of "in a corner" or "up against the wall.") This would be a great opportunity for one of the younger up-and-comers in sumo like Mitakeumi, Hokutofuji, or Onosho to step up and take a yūsho.

Jones stripped. DC regains title, Jones removed from top fighters list. I was a huge fan of Bones, but it's time for him to leave the sport.

The Aki Honbasho is indeed wide open, and the injuries are crazy. In addition to the three yokozuna, two other wresters (Aoyama and Sadanoumi) pulled out before the tournament started. Ōzeki Takayasu, who was probably one of the favorites to win, pulled out with a thigh injury on day 3, and on the same day Ura went out with a knee injury. Ōzeki Terunofuji pulled out after day 5, and since he was already kadoban that means he will lose his ōzeki rank for the next tournament. He can get it back if he manages to get at least 10 wins in November, but with his injury history that's a pretty tall order. It's too bad; I really like Terunofuji, and I think he has the size and skill to be a yokozuna, but he just can't stay healthy. Yokozuna Harumafuji isn't doing well and already has three losses, and the remaining guys at the top of the division aren't doing much better. This tournament could go to anyone.

Fell into free tickets for tonight's UFC event at PPG. I know very little about MMA. Any tips on what to look for, fights to make sure I'm in my seat during, cliche things to shout such as "Shoot!" Or "Hit somebody!"?

A pretty great fight ruined by **** judging. GGG won that fight. I had it 116-112. A couple rounds could have gone either way but that still gives you a GGG victory. Yet Adalaide Byrd, who is a **** judge in boxing and MMA, strikes yet again and somehow sees the fight 118-110 for Canelo which is about as far off as you can be. Terrible.

I'm not sure how Adalaide Byrd continues to be treated as a premier judge, other than corruption/money.

That was such a great fight and they had to f it up. Really enjoyed it and was everything that makes boxing special for 12 rounds. Then it was everything that makes boxing revolting get in the 30 seconds they annojnced the scores.

That ended up being way more fun than I expected. I was surprised by how empty the arena was, though. The entire upper bowl was draped off and I'd say there were maybe 7k people in the lower bowl. Made getting around the concourse a breeze.

I went to the one that came here a year or two ago.. cool but the card just really sucked. When I got the pre-sale email this year I was interested again, but again nobody on the card. It's still pretty cool to be at in person though

I have no idea if this is par for the course for MMA, but of the 10 fights only 2 went to decision. The rest were KOs with one stoppage and one submission. Good stuff.

I would say that's a little high, but if I had to bet I'd say more end in tko/knockout than those that go the distance

So you may not see the UFC in Pittsburgh for awhile. It drew only 6-7K fans and was the lowest gate of the year. Although they may have expected it running it against Canelo-GGG.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't come back. It was shockingly empty. Here are a few photos I took. Keep in mind I took these about two hours into the event.

What's crazy, is that the card itself was probably one of the best cards of the year for finished fights.
