Holy ****!!!! What a takedown and submittal by Tate. WOW.
And this is a valuable lesson for all of these athletes. Most people don't get a single chance at a million dollar payday. Use smart decision making and wait for that fight.

Fight Rousey: you're a millionaire set for life. Win or lose. That's your family and your kids, and if invested correctly your kids are set with their families as well.

Fight Tate: yeah you have honor and yeah you'll make decent money but purely from a best long term decision it's a bad move

Now Holm doesn't have that chance. Good for Tate though not giving up.

Neither Tate not Holm deserved to win that fight.THe only thing that Tate did was get lucky with that choke. Holm did noting at all except give Tate that choke. Holm is a boxer. four and a half rounds and look at Tate's face. One mark on her left cheek. Pathetic performance by Holm, ever so slightly less pathetic performance by Tate.

Both Diaz brothers are borderline turds.

Holm became Buster Douglas in one night, after seeing Rhonda decimate Tate twice in under a minute, and then seeing her go with Holm, Holm needs to do all she can to work on ground defense, because Rhonda's ego won't stand and box with her next time they meet.

This fight actually did nothing to Connor's legacy. Two weight classes up, no belt on the line and he didn't back down. Good for him, he also needed that loss - as he's another guy that was believing his own hype.

I don't really follow this stuff, but why the hell was McGregor fighting 25 pounds above his natural weight class? Was it just ego?

I kind of like him, because he's like Mickey from Snatch came to life and is perpetually grouchy.

The guy he originally was supposed to fight broke his foot with two weeks to go. He still wanted to fight, and Diaz called him out (for the payday).

McGregor, being the fight anyone, anywhere kind of guy - obviously let his ego feed him that he could handle a guy that big.

Rousey said she wasn't ready, both because of the beating she took and because she's filming a movie. She's previously said she wouldn't be ready for UFC 200 in July, so Holm had to fight someone. Otherwise Holm was going to be on ice from Novermber 2015 until this fall, and a year off wasn't going to work for her or the UFC. I don't think you can point to this as bad decision-making because there was no Rousey fight to be had for, best case, 9 months and more likely 12 months.

Holm saw what happened in round 2 when she spent 90% of the round on the mat, and decided all she needed to do was pick at her from a distance and she would win on points. She was 2 minutes away from that happening. It wasn't exactly fireworks, but I enjoyed the fight. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

White said that Tate is fighting Rousey next after the fights Saturday. I think he's trying to coax her into coming back at UFC 200 even though she has said she doesn't want to do that and wouldn't be ready.

I gave it (Holm-Tate):
10-9
8-10
10-9
10-9

Neither was doing anything though. Up until Holm tried to buck Tate neither deserved an actual W. If it had ended the 5th round would have been 9-10 for a final of 47-47. Neither would have deserved the belt. Tate is just lucky that Holm gave her the choke.

That's how I had it, but for the 8-10 being 9-10. She spent the entire round on the mat, but Tate couldn't really do anything with her, notwithstanding the fact that Rogan kept trying to make it seem that she had her Holm cinched over and over when it wasn't the case.

I can't recall how I felt about the 5th round until Tate took her down, but I think I had that headed in Holm's favor as well.

I had Tate winning the first which made it pretty interesting in my mind if the second round ended at 10-8 seeing what would happen in the fifth since you had a chance at an even score.

Thoughts? I think Mcgregor-Aldo II is a no-brainer.

Yup, he needs to go down and defend/win to keep momentum. I don't think the Diaz lost did anything, but two in a row is a huge hit to his ego.

It would seem most logical

Tate vs. Nunez

Holm vs Rousey #1 contender

At least that's how is play it

Frank Mir should seriously consider retiring from striking after that. His chin has been gone for a while but to get knocked silly like that after how many miles are on him. Hang it up, you were champ twice, you're highly respected by everyone, go do grappling full time in Brazil and continue to make money.
